Hi all,

I have a 2019 ibis Ripmo that I just removed a squeak from via chainring bolts. After putting the chainring back on, I realized it is VERY close to the frame. It rubs at some point in the travel as told by a piece of electrical tape.

I have to be very careful setting the pre-load on my DUB bracket or it will rub at all times. The only spacer on the bracket is a 3mm on the drive side. The chainring is the 3mm GX eagle ring.

As best I can tell from the SRAM docs, I should be using a 4.5mm spacer on the drive side. If you use the SRAM tables for spacers, it does recommend 3mm on a road bike, but not an MTB.

My rear axle is 148mm (Ibis S35) and I have Truativ 170mm cranks. The chainring is a non-oval, 32t X-sync 2. I got this bike used a few years ago, and it is fairly custom - I’m thinking the pre-load was just perfectly set such that I never noticed before and it just managed to never catch the frame.

Does this sound crazy? Does anyone have experience with this bike and a super tight clearance?
