About to pull the trigger on equip-D rack.
I mostly ride alone.

can’t decide between equip- d single plus one add-on or equip-D double.

drive around with single rack and single bike 97% of the time with add-on in the garage?
or drive with double rack and single bike 97% of the time?

Price difference is like $40 I believe.

I currently have a Super Duty Double, but I will sell that in the coming months as my new car can only accommodate a Super Duty Single folded and still have the rear hatch open without having to touch the rack.

I’d opt for the double if this wasn’t the case just because it’s one less thing to fiddle-with even on the rare days where you are hauling two bikes (and attendant accessories + other rider). I have no plans on hauling more than 2 bikes, so that’s not part of the equation.

I have a double, and I rarely put two bikes on there. I say go with the double- I can still open the hatch on my crosstrek with the rack up, I don't have to worry about the add-on walking away or taking up space (I don't have a garage) and if there is a surprise i can be spontaneous and pick up a second bike without needed to go home first.

Thanks for the replies.
still couldn’t decide, lol

forced my finger to press equip-d single 2”.
I’ll post pics of it on my TJ when it arrives.
I don't think you'll regret it. I was in the same situation a couple months ago and went with the single. So glad I did! In addition to easy access to my Jeep Cherokee's hatch, the single also sits low enough that it doesn't block my backup camera. The single is great at not impacting your vehicle's creature comforts.

As for capacity, I decided that if I ever needed to haul a fourth bike that I would just put one up top in addition to the three on the hitch. odds are that the fourth bike would be a kids' 20" anyway, so not as big of a pain getting it up and down from the roof.

Get the Double, $40 is nothing, and the extra thirty seconds needed to drop the rack for rear end access once or twice a week is a nothingburger.

The Equip is not very heavy duty, someday you may want to carry heavy bikes, might be worth looking at he standard models.

I have the Double Super Duty plus 1 roof mount. I still miss my single for ease of access to the rear of the vehicle. Instead I will be buying another single AND a 6x Velocirax, and keeping my double/addons for my wifes car if a friend does not have a rack.

I did a super duty single with an add on. For quite a while it was just the single then I put the add on on and it hasn’t come off in a year. Almost always just me. I can still open the hatch with the double. I will say I just bought the release handle for it. Best 80 bucks spent on that rack, much faster and easier. But pretty sure the Equip has a release handle built in.
