Does anybody make a 104 BCD spider for Shimano cranks?

Wolftooth and OneUp have their own proprietary spiders, NSB only sells them for SRAM cranks, e13 sells them only for the e-cranks. The only options seems to be Chinese brands, which are easy on the wallet, but unknown reliability.

Am I missing something or am I in a fading minority as a Shimano rider with an interest in customization and cross-compatibility?

fancy! I need to ask if they can make a 33t (that's thirty three) chainring for Cinch. I'm always between gears on my bike and a 33 would be perfect.

My other option is a 104bcd spider (which I have) and a 33t four-bolt ring. I think Rennen is the only company that makes those.

Full disclosure:

Spiders are built to maximize compatibility across brands. They are not Shimano specific and won't be scaped to the arms. There may be some gaps.

Here is NSB's spider on a carbon crank:

Our first batch will be significantly less cohesive.

BUT......

Custom anodized almost any color.

And if we have enough demand, I'll have #AxisDaddy cook up some brand specific recipes.

Glad to know someone else is thinking about this. Following the thread for updates, thanks!

there's at least one thread that has some content on reputable Chinese brands. @speedygz has posted I recall, at least in this post https://www.mtbr.com/threads/deore-m5100-vs-advent-x.1213813/page-2

The direct mount power meter spiders all tend to use a 104 BCD chainring.

Some brands that make a direct mount version of their spider to fit a Shimano crank arm are Power2Max, SRM, Sigeyi Axo and Xcadey:

Eg:

That’s not a cheap option but allows a 104 BCD 1x chainring to be used with a Shimano crank.:)

Sheldon "Octalink" Brown posted info about 'em here ages ago hehe

Octalink V1 splines are greater in number and small (compared to the later V2 redsign) and were more susceptible to damage by hacks who weren't paying attention during install. The bearings in my BB-M952 (nealry 30 years old!) still spin like new lol

Anyone want to loan their crank for fitment?

First 2 are getting sized and splined for TRP and Cinch.

The TRP crank arms didn't fit even the factory Race Face spider. They're wide.

So I bought an Atlas for the 36er.

If someone could send a Shimano splined DM crank to #AxisDaddy, I'll ask if he is willing to make a more form fitting design.

(If so, hit it with a FantasyForgery label. Send me the Tracking #.)

First to ship ("label created"don't count) gets a free spider.

If not, ya'll can wait for me to source one. Likely be a bit. And they won't be pretty cause i won't care enough to ask for a re-CAD. Because press fit steel crank spindles can't be ano'ed.

Alas, since Teh Pours deserve bling too, as well as these being a mechanical improvement, some of these will eventually be Shimano splined:
