No they are in the back of a ford quad cab strapped moto style or on my saris cyclon pro.
Mike has a CRX and pulls the front wheel and drops the passenger seat to haul it or a bike rack on his girlfriends WRX so the answer is "NO" it hasnt seen overhanging shuttling.

No it looks like he'll have another ride this week, they had his frame shipped back quickly as well to inspect it which is pretty damn admirable and responsible. Im really impressed with the way they have taken care of it so far, we'll see if Mike has a ride by Friday. He has race season and a race in 2 weeks this is not good for training and riding and I dont have someone to train with tilll hes up and running! LOL
So Id say so far so good... Ill keep it updated though.

This sounds good - I'm sure Intense will take good care of this customer.

However, some of us potential customers need some reassurance about this situation - are these frame failures just unfortunate "riding incidents" or "bad luck", or is there a serious problem with this frame?

BULLCREW,
Is Mike going to get another 951 or a M6?
I beleive he is (951), they had a batch just done and on the way to powder coat and mike didnt really care if its red/black or green as long as he has a bike to practice on for the beacon race also GRT, fluidride and wild rockies is coming shortly as is sea otter.
Yeah mikes looking at the light through a short tunnel as far as time.

We are awaiting the arrival of the broken frame to do a failure analysis on it. We should have it back in our hands this week. We have already arranged to have replacement frame ready to send out once we have had a chance to look over the original. Once we have found the possible causes of this failure, then we will post results.

so i guess the moral of this story is if you want your bike to be warrantied fast then post a picture on MTBR for all to see and they will take care of it quick. If you don't then you will probably have to wait a few months like everyone else.

Couple thoughts.

First, if I were at Intense I'd be pissed that you guys posted these pics. OF COURSE people are going to assume the worst about the frame when they see a broken one. This is how stupid rumors start on the internet. I'd have kept things quiet myself.

Second, I don't see how this is a suprise. DH racers are some of the dumbest bunch I've ever seen, in that they keep whining that they need lighter and lighter bikes and parts, then complain when they break. I feel bad for the manufacturers who have to cater to this ********, instead of building super solid and sturdy bikes that will take a ton of **** for a couple of seasons. I mean, look at the Trek. Would you buy one of those things second hand?

Like the case is every single time, I can guarantee if the frame snaps under normal usage, it wasn't the final hit that did all the damage. its cumulative from other mistakes and such. It happens.

That said, screw the 951. I want an SS!! :D

Climbingbubba,

It just worked out that we just finished a Batch of 951 frames, so I had one around for replacement. If we have the parts in stock, then we try to take care of warranty or service requests right away. Unfortunately, there are times that we are out of particular replacement parts.

Ok, why? Are the pics saying anything untrue? Did the headtube not come clean off the bike? What concerned consumer wouldn't post pics up on the net? I personally would like to know if the headtube is going to shear off as I'm setting a speed record on Una Moss in the Whistler bike park.

Freak accident or not consumers have the right to know that there could be a serious issue with their uber expensive production downhill bike. Look at what Norco did last year when they recalled almost their entire line following serious failures at the headtube junction.

Not disclosing these types of incidents falls into the category of censorship and propaganda IMO and could be considered dangerous.

Props to Intense for handling these incidents swiftly and professionally.

Why don't you stop doing that dude, it's sort of irritating and unnecessary.
I'm agreeing with the comment above my tick. Why ? because I'm waiting to order a 951 and I won't be ordering one until I know for definite if there's a problem with the FRO's or not.

Well why don't you say that, and just monitor the damned thread. Jeez.
