I've never entered into this before and I won't be continuing with any more responses, but you guys need to ease up on Nino. This time he has obviously made a big effort to only show information with no mention of where to get it or how much it is.

Someone states you can't buy Gore housing anymore to which he replies 'you can' and you start ripping him to shreds. He made no mention that it was from him, the most obvious reference for his response is that Gore have just announced the relaunch at this years Interbike.

I have seen his classifieds adds, he uses them when he's pushing something. If someone asks where they can get a part from and Nino has it there's nothing wrong with him saying he can help them out. Answering a question is not advertising. Nino, if I were you I'd just do this by PM. Then you can't be blamed for advertising on the forums, it's a personal deal.

He's a helpful guy and I can't think of anyone that brings more facts on all the parts we're all interested in to the forums. We're all our own people and can make up our own decisions which are made much easier when the facts are easily attainable. PS, Discs beat the pants of V-brakes ;)

100% agreed - but you won't hear anymore about this from me either:)

Its a sticky topic at the top of every forum just below the banner ad space....

Announcement: Forum guidelines for users, dealers, manufacturers HERE>>

And when you click over the HERE link....

Manufacturer/Retailer Posting Guidelines:

* All Manufacturers / Vendors / Shop Owners / Sponsored Riders should declare their status as a Retailer / Manufacturer in their signature
* Online selling of parts, components or bikes will be accompanied by a paid ad and properly labeled as "Ad" with a link to the paid classified ad or mtbr sponsorship.
* Any one reviewing or testing products and / or components online must state whether they have a vested interest in the product up front. They should state whether they bought the product or they got the product free or with an industry deal or are prohibited from saying negative things about a product.
* All links in a signature for articles for sale should be removed before posting. No "under the signature" shilling or free advertising allowed.
However, if you own or work for a bike shop, you MAY put a link to your shops website main page to show your affiliation.(this bullit point updated by gregg 6/7/07)
* Manufacturers and Industry folks are encouraged to respond to any questions directed about their product. This is the perfect opportunity to inform and 'set the record straight.'
* Bottom line: Participate and post content in mtbr. Don't use mtbr to get free money for your business. Sponsoring mtbr assures our survival and is very affordable. Contact forrest@mtbr.com and jthomas@consumerreview.com for more info.

Apparently points 1 thru 4 don't apply to nino for some reason, or so he seems to think anyways.

Aww, let them be. The whole DeeEight (and others) vs. nino is one of cutest sideshows on MTBR

So why don't you get a moderator or admin of this forum / server to do something about it rather than try to post in every single thread on this sub forum trying to put down another user? You are not helping the situation anymore than Nino trying to sell things. You are just as part of the problem as Nino.

I can, D8 definitely provides more facts!. Wino discredits parts he does not sell, he constantly states his stuff is the best, he's a vulture, he takes advantage of this forum to conduct his pushing. Most of us know this, but people like D8 need to keep him in check. Protect the newbie users, until they realize he's pushing sales, not cool new parts..

Wino needs to open his own website, all you Koolaide drinkers can go hangout with him, sign your paychecks over for some lameazz carbon cable housing.

he used to try to pass off that he did sculpting (turd scraping) for a living, denying
that he was indeed a vendor. and he claims he has no interest in the eclipse sysytem
yet he is with them at eurobike every yr. i had called him out for what he is yrs ago.
he was also "intermediate" swiss champ in mx and he tries to pass that off as
national swiss champ. basically he is a chump

do we really have to go through this again? we had this a couple of years ago...but so be it:

1.here's my website. no it is not bike related....guess what? i'm a sculptor!
http://www.fenaroli-bildhauer.ch/w/index.html

2.i sure have a relation to Eclipse since the main man is my best friend...but i have nothing to do with the company. i help him out at Eurobike since i am capable to speak many languages....you too?

3.take a closer look at the "diploma" i got from the swiss motorcycle federation....if you can read it i don't have to repeat which championship i won ;)

4. and last but least one of my several FIM drivers licences along with the worldchampionship-license. if you know something about the MX-worldchampionships you will know that only the top 3-5 of every nation are eligible to get such a license and go to those races. no - i didn't get it cheap on Ebay;)

any more questions? you are welcome!

Keep discussing, so it doesn’t let anyone forget that nino sells good lightweight, cheap top end bike parts.
He also sells other stuff he tries to put credit in but that aren’t so good but you have a brain to think for yourself do u? And it is his opinion, everyone has theirs. Like this carbon nokons… I think it hasn’t got the best price/quality ratio, but you buy what you want…
I think it is a privilege to have someone like nino with big knowledge, experience and contacts with manufacturers and other, informing our free open public forum. If someone should pay it should be the forum to him…
And it’s real shame that other guys try to shut him up.

keep posting AND BE FRIENDS because THIS IS NOT THE MTB SPIRIT! :)

I agree that nino has some useful info and easing up may be nice, but he is also responsible for a great deal of this.

The following quote for example. No I had no idea shimano SIS cables were so light, I have no interest at all in these stupid carbon things. I just want to know what components are light. So many bike manufacturers are unreliable about weights or do not list at all.

nino said:
sorry - this is no useful info as shimano SIS cables are just plain and simple. not what people in here are interested in.

people were eagerly waiting for these Nokon Carbons all over the world. here's the 1st detailed view on them !! as i mentioned above no comment on function or sense or stupidness....you should know better what i think of them anyway !

i show details no other has shown yet. it's now everyones free choice to choose whatever product he likes. we all know that 0815 Shimano is lighter and costs only a couple of bucks. but there's still guys interested in these and they ALL thought these would be killer light....yet we all know which ones are much lighter still.

once again it's everyones choice - at least now they all know what they get!!!
BTW I have seen the shimano housing burst is this partially because they are light? This is the type of info I want to know before I buy a product. I want to know the weight and reliability/durability. If it is the same reliability/durability and lighter it is a win. Otherwise it is something to think about. If it just looks neat then pshaw....

Although I have to admit to my shame that I thought the dirty dog dragon rotors looked tight.

I've had to replace shimano shifter housing because of bursting hmmmm, once now in ten years, on a full suspension. A handful of times when the end caps have failed and the steel wire that makes the housing "compressionless" has pushed thru around the cable at the housing stops on the frame. Again, on a full suspension bike. In all cases it was after a several years of usage though. $2/meter, lighter than stuff costing ten times as much, and lasts years. Hmmmm... ya know, I think I can afford to replace the stuff with that kinda lifespan. People were eagerly awaiting something probably only because they didn't know that the stuff shimano uses was lighter and cheaper. Of course this isn't a piece of information Nino is gonna provide for comparison since it makes buying what he's gonna be flogging merely an excercise for asthetics.

Geee look what i found on ebay... and look who the hypocritical seller is...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ultralight-NOKO...QitemZ160167220397QQihZ006QQcategoryZ42335QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And look at that price tag... so its what, 20 times the price of a shimano shifter cable set. And now we know why he dismissed the shimano housing weight as useless info.
you do know that there is no bigger ANTI-NOKON guy on the planet than Nino!!!!!! i hate those damn things! i ordered them and showed every little detail just to make sure EVERYONE can see that they are indeed heavier than other cables on the market.

but these were highly expected, people would rave all about how light and exclusive these are...i was ALWAYS the one telling it wasn't the case, how Nokons look ugly, how bad they would perform and guess what? there were certain guys saying i was bashing them just because i was selling some other cables....so here you go my dear!

nest time make sure to find someone selling an item and still telling you ALL the details and truth about them. good luck!

by the way - it's not me making the prices. that's Nokon. the cables usually sell for ca. 110 euro per set. that's another reason to stay away from them anyway. but as i mentioned initially i didn't want to talk about pricing. this was just some info for those eagerly waiting to see those hit the market. and those people know what other cables cost, what other cables weigh and if they want it or don't.

Jesus fuking Christ guys or as I like to say Fuk it fry it in a wok. Quit reminding me that one day I'm going to be old.

If anybody gets anything new, no matter how or why you get it or what you do with it, post images details and say what you want *and then* let the readers friggin discuss it.

Okay so the carbon nokon post has had nino disclosed - I think that's good. Can we keep it on topic now and let others topics rise up. At certain points some of you are starting to blur the truth about what has been discussed here in the past and you begin to erode your own credibility.

I agree with you Sergio! everybody has a brain to compare price and quality; but for sure I can tell you those swiss/german/italian/french guys are always one step ahead, fortunately in tech everything can be mesured, lets be a forum, no agression please!!
So what Nino is doing is Ok, you can get all that parts in the US! except by UPS.
and there is no problem with their comparisions, :nono: they are good and for free:thumbsup: , just retain what you need,:p if you want, lets be friends:) !!

Saludos!

you still didn't get it!

DeeEight said:
Yeah yeah, nice attempt at rewriting history after its confirmed you're selling them.
correct D8 - but i sell almost everything!

BUT i am the one showing all details here. and i only praise things when i have used them on my own and if i really think it's great product. this isn't the case with the Nokon carbons. i didn't mount them and i won't do so. i didn't praise them here at all. i am ALL ANTI-NOKON. more is not possible. that's why i said right from the beginning i would just show ALL details. and it is the weights in 1st place people were interested in.

so here you have it.

by the way - if someone is looking for cable weights who's list is showing up??? it is MY list. funny.

LOL... right... meanwhile you insult stuff when its a competing product or when you stand to lose money on something you've bought and plan to be selling. If I'm looking for cable weights, I'll weigh them myself, and I certainly won't rely on anything you might have listed given your pattern of biased results and information.
