Sounding like the Capital One commercial, just like to know if riders carry anything unsual in their pack. I was just cleaning mine out and it was all the usual suspects: pump, repair kit, tube, zip ties, two power bars, and some money.
in my 'bak at the beginning of my ride yesterday i had: 3 CO2 cartridges, 1 CO2 inflator thingy, a clif bar, a multi tool, and an epi pen. by the end of the ride i had all of that except the epi pen which i used after an evil yellow jacket blind-sided me and nailed me on the right butt cheek. OWIE!

wish i'd had my 70 oz 'bak yesterday because that one has the 1st aid kit and the benedryl. note to self: add benedryl to the 50 oz pack.

Just water, I hate it when you put gatorade in it then forget to clean it, and then feel like an idiot because you ruin you camelback, and now it's got a bunch of black crap in it.
bleach is your friend.

fill your now fuzzy bladder with some water, add a splash of bleach, close the top, shake it up and watch the colonies of black fuzz disappear. make sure you run the bleach water out through the tube to get the black fuzzies out of there too.

voila! clean bladder (with only a slight chlorine taste that goes away pretty quickly). much cheaper than replacing your bladder every time you accidentally start growing a new eco system. :)

this should be done once and a while weather you see growth or not....

this has all been in a variety of bags over the years. most recently a wingnut gear pack, that died last week in a nasty wreck. currently residing in a camelbak HAWG, with the straps rigged up to mimic the great adjustability of the previous wingnut pack. big bag, but cinches down to smaller, but also has more room for when needed for larger rides.

100 oz bladder w/ water.
honkin' big first aid kit (with some firestarting stuff, space blanket, and a few meds)
pump/2 tubes/2 levers/glueless patches
shock pump (only along if on the big bike that needs it)
camera/batteries (in padded case that rides on shoulder strap)
mini tripid (6" high and flexible)
small tube sunscreen, chapstick, micro mag lite, mini multi plier tool
Pearl Izumi shell jacket
small vial of h20 treatment tabs

spares (shift cable, disc brake padset, chainlinks, chainring bolt, a few m4-m5 bolts and nuts, about 8' of duct tape, a dozen or so zip ties, disc brake pad spacer thingy)

whatever munchies get tossed into it for whatever the days ride will be. sometimes a beer.
more food/liquid/arm and leg warmers/hat/gloves if i'll be out long enough, or the weather is going to be chainging a bunch

Hope you never snap a derailleur hanger or that thing is gonna be heavy to carry, as you walk your bike back to your car...lol

So which is it, water or black crap?

Seriously, those cleaning kits work wonders. The little flexible brush really does the trick on the hose. Bleach works too for when the little tablets are gone. Just be sure to rinse about 30 times.

There's nothing like a sweet smelling camel

not any heavier on my back walking vs. riding......

plus, when most of my rides are on a steel hardtail, the hanger breakage issue is a non-issue. at least so far. when i ride the big bike (which has a replacable whole rear dropout assembly) i usually throw it into a side pocket.

yeah, it's a lot of crap. but i've used most everything on more than one instance, for me or someone else. i'd rather ride with it and not need it than the other way around. all that crap has prevented walking home quite a few times.

lot's of weekday solo riding in spots with little bike or hiker = make sure i've got the stuff i need.

Nothing too unusual:

Water (duh)
mini-tool
tire levers
spare tube
topeak mini-pump (too many CO2 probs to trust it anymore)
Gu (Vanilla Bean)
Cell Phone (Off)
Curad Wound Wipes
10 Dollars
Advil
Digital Camera (only on new to me scenic trails)

What bike were you riding *rt*, was it the Titus again? You need to get rid of that flying insect w/ stinger attractor :D
