See, more arrogant a-holes. I was under another name from 2006-2018. I remember why I left now.
Then you are well aware of how easy it is to get all of Shimano's technical information. Especially their new products.
This has the appearance that you prefer for others to find simple answers for you and refer to their arrogance for not providing it.

@renotahoemtbguides.c There are three separate ways to adjust the indexing on new Shimano MTB wireless Di2 that I know of.

- By default pressing and holding the assignable third button for 2 to 5 seconds (until the light on the rear derailleur turns solid yellow) on the wireless shifter will put the gears into micro adjust mode. The two gear shift paddles stop working as gear shifts and instead make micro adjust steps for gear indexing instead.

- Pressing and holding the function button on the rear derailleur for 2 to 5 seconds (until the light on the rear derailleur turns solid yellow) will also put the gears into micro adjust mode as well.

This is useful for when the assignable third button on the wireless shifter mode is changed to d-fly mode (for controlling a Garmin or Wahoo bike computer with screen changes etc). The assignable third button on the wireless shifter can only be assigned to one function at a time. This method is the guaranteed way of always being able to enter micro adjust mode for the gears when out riding.

- The gears can also be micro adjusted directly via the Shimano e-tube project cyclist phone app (either Apple IOS or Android versions.) This would be my preferred way for initial setup, as with SRAM AXS wireless shifting, because it gives an onscreen indexing number. Write this number down and it is possible to quickly revert to a known good indexing setting by going straight to that number in the app.

The derailleur can adjust 18 steps inward and 18 steps outward from the initial position ( 0 ), for a total of 37 positions

The micro adjust is under the Maintenance tab, pictured below:

Micro adjust indexing on Shimano MTB wireless Di2 is a global setting across all sprockets. Unlike some other wireless groupsets (such as Wheeltop) it isn’t possible to individually make adjustments one sprocket at a time.

This Love MTB youtube video about the Shimano E-tube project cyclist app goes through the available app settings.:)

Every single review, if I recall, of the new system showed how to do the microadjust. It's the same basic idea as the SRAM system. So I guess I too was surprised the original poster didn't notice that, because nowadays, everyone watches 10 reviews on youtube and reads a few website reviews before buying stuff.

I already have the xtr di2 and it works great but I thought the micro adjustment works in all gears. meaning you can adjust each gear and does not effect other gears. Hope it’s not the same as SRAM TType.

That would be ideal, but I'm pretty sure it's moving the shifting points all or none. I'd love to be proven wrong. The only thing that MIGHT get me to ditch my sram stuff is if they make use of that 3rd extra button thing, and let us trigger a dropper post, or even lockouts at some point. Otherwise there's nothing unique about the Di2 stuff other than speed. And since I still use the original AXS, that's not an issue for me.

It does not. It (like SRAM/Campagnolo) is analogous to turning a barrel adjuster. You still need a properly mounted cassette, wheel, and straight hanger. AFAIK, the only system that you can microadjust individual positions are the Alfine hubs, and I suspect that is because the tolerances between "shifts properly" and "skips (and destroys your hub)" is less than a quarter turn of a barrel adjuster. Despite this, they are still adamant that the motor not be adjusted unless something feels "off" (which would require a whole bunch of experience to diagnose).

I suspect that we will never see the ability to adjust individual gears, because then you wouldn't need to use the proper-spaced cassette (ie, you could use an 8 speed cassette, or 5 speed freewheel). The cases have arrived in my experience, that sometimes a system just doesn't work right--Shimano is typically quite compliant replacing parts as needed, provided the proper channels/procedures are followed.

As far as the button being able to do other things...that's up to other manufacturers. It's capable of sending an ANT+ or Bluetooth signal, it's just that nobody seems interested in making their electric peripherals work with that...other than cycle computer companies.
