I have a 2.6 Kryptotal Re Enduro/Soft up front and a 2.4 Kryptotal Re DH/Soft out back with Vittoria Airliner inserts and it's night and day
Nice. I’ve got a second set of wheels that I throw on for bigger rides: DD 2.5 Assegai front / 2.4 DHR rear with Airliners. Definitely helps take the sting off. But this is a yes-and proposition; I’m looking for a bit more for longer Whistler and Pemberton days

I am coming off a Revel Rail 29 (160/155). it was a playful bike bike that could rage but home turf is Colorado and Utah where it is not nearly as steep as BC (shorter wheelbase than the Optic)

I've sold my Optic for exactly same reasons, trails I was using it primarily with this bike we're getting a bit nasty so need more squish. Checked the market around, and in Spring I've got a sick deal on a Pivot Firebird. Climbs better ( with a coil) and it's just a bomb on the down. The optic was really capable, just the bird takes the icing on the cake.

Well I guess Norco HQ are still sitting on a few of these frames, I found a small hairline crack in the front triangle of my purple C3 and was offered a choice of black, blue with silver decals or this;

It's the oldest based on model years but the best colour of the bunch IMO! On the hunt for a 36 with kashima to match the decals now...

Nice one! Definitely the best of all the colourways!

The 210 fitted completely in but just at the limit. With the 240 basically you'll have to add like 3 cm of dropper ( don't have the length graph so I suspect it's only 3 cm longer).

Just to add that on my current bike ( Pivot Firebird) I've bought the 240, and it's perfect since it fits all in. As the 210 was always lacking slightly. I'm 6 foot with a regular 32" inseam
Hi Bogdan!

Old reply, I know, but what’s your inseam? I think you had an L frame, right?

I think it would fit as with mine , 210 mm to have the best climbing position I had to lift it up 2-3 cm. So if it goes down the same lenght as the 210 extended it should fit .

Thinking of tweaking the geometry on my 2021 Optic. High on the list is a -1 angle headset and bumping the travel to 150mm. A cascade link is further down the list of options. What has peoples experience with making these modifications (headset and travel).
Cheers

I increased my fork travel to 150 after a year, I didn’t feel like there were any downsides. I also had a Cascade link and felt that was a big improvement over the stock link.

I have been riding 2023 Optic for the last year. I also put my 36 Fox fork at 150mm. Works great for me. But, I am kinda short legged and wondering if anyone has mulleted their Optic? I'd love to try a 27.5 wheel on the back, if I had one...

Has anyone had experience with alternatives to the stock Super Deluxe DH rear shock? I'm thinking of taking my Optic on a mixed-surface tour of southwestern BC next summer. Looking to pick up something that has a lockout for longer pedaling days with bike bags -- float, deluxe, sidluxe, etc.

I put on a Cane Creek DB Coil IL with progressive spring + cascade link. My fork is a 150 Lyrik. The DB coil is the best shock I have ever had on any bike. Pedals so well, ability to carve the rear end, and tracking. My two bits but could not offer a stronger endorsement (I live in Boulder, CO and mainly ride Lefthand and Hall).

I run the C2-included float x performance Elite. Works pretty well. Could have a tad bit more progression, but that seems to go for all shocks in the optic. On the other hand I have never heard of any shock really sucking when used in our beloved little trail machines. 🙂 That goes for the float as well. So I don’t think you can do much wrong.

Btw, I haven’t used the lockout in months, but yeah, for longer tarmac sections it might make sense.
