Wheels under 1000g? Can you even ride those on singletrack??
Lol, I jest. I'm sure you can. But that's amazingly light. I've never see anything like it. Nextie says their XC wheels are "from 1150 grams". Maybe you are running Berd spokes?
Wheelset Supreme is from 978g NEXTIE - Supreme Edition 29" Mountain Bicycle Carbon Rim and Wheelset: Cross Country, All Mountain, Enduro, Downhill

With their goofy, over priced carbon spokes.

I'm just not that good with super light rims so my wheel builds come in about 1100-1200g.

Is the v1 Ranger still worth it? They're an absolute steal down here, and I've been eyeing up a short travel bike - Epic Evo and the like - but I could cannibalise my Honzo ST and build up a v1 Ranger for cheap!
love mine, have close to 6000 miles on it, I do change pivots just about yearly and the bike is silent, it does flex some in the rear, but love the fit for me, I built mine up super light, and am very pleased with it, how much are frames going for. wear you are ?

I still love mine. Had it for 3 years. Just raced it to a 3rd place finish in a 50k technical race. It’s a little fragile for what I do but the ride is so fun. It compliments my big bike perfectly. I sometimes want a little more burly a bike and have been looking at other bikes but every time I ride it I have fun.

The importer down in Australia has them for AUD2.5k with a SID Ultimate, or AUD2k with a BYO fork. The v2 is selling for AUD5k frame only, so a definite steal.
It’d be built up with a Deore groupset and some Nukeproof Neutron wheels so not the lightest.
I am 95kg (210lb) without any gear on so I am a bit worried about rear triangle flex though

I'm around the same weight and don't really notice the rear triangle flex.
That being said, I have 7k miles on my V1 and have had zero problems with it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one when the time comes for a new bike.

@Rorschach84: My V1 is ~3 years old and a keeper. 160-lb rider, my most substantial full-day efforts have been on this bike. Not a fan of the SID but love the Pike 130 paired with Fox Float DPS with Ranger tune. Two friends got a V1 with full SID and seem very happy. Pedal strikes is the only down side of this bike that we've been able to ID. I've taken to running minimal sag and of course appreciate the longer fork for that aspect as well. YMMV.

I put 165 cranks on mine and love it, hardly any strikes. BB sits higher then a lot of the bikes in this category from what I recall.

Are you replacing just the pivot #4 or all of them?

I picked up V1 used awhile back and it has developed the squeaks and deciding if I just buy the whole pivot kit or just try number 4. Did remove the number 4 seems in good shape nice and tight some wear but not a lot on the anodizing.

For those of you with lightweight builds, could you list your final weight and specs?

Also having a rail 29, I find I don't ride my Ranger much outside of racing. With it being at 29 lbs., it's tempting to swap for a lighter, more racing oriented build.

I got mine down to 26.5 lbs, does that count as light? Stock XO1 build with Sid Ultimate and carbon Race Face bars, only changes of note were some 1370g wheels and lightish tires (Cross King/Mezcal).
I'm at 27.5 lbs now with different wheels/tires and a Manitou shock. Sometimes I put a 130mm fork on as well which changes things up.
But yeah 26.5 is my race-day weight.
In every configuration, it's a nice change of pace from my 32.5 lb trail bike.

Wheels are the biggest thing I have two main sets, one set is less then a 1,000 grams in 900 range, other set is just shy of 1,200 grams, I love Pirelli xc tire pro wall they are very light and hold up great with much traction, my lightest form bike comes in at 23.6 lbs, I will post up later with details,( I think I have posted some details somewhere in this thread before)

That's light in my book. Mine is at 29 with a slightly burly downcountry build.

I need to reweigh but:

V1 medium frame fox shock and 34 FIT4 SC fork
XX1 eagle cassette, crank, chain AXS shifter and derailleur
OneupV2 dropper
Some specialized saddle that is partially carbon (not rails) that came on bike since bought used
40mm I9 stem
Enve M6 handlebars
XT pedals
G2 ultimate brakes
i9 trail 24 system trail wheels in i27 (guessing roughly 1700 grams)
Had Xr2 rear XR3 front tire (now changed to Maxxis Rekon Dissector because although heavier work very well)

With Bontrager tires was 27 pounds, guessing now 28 with the heavier tires but haven't weighed

I dont see this bike as full on weight weenie pure race XC machine but rather a great balance of weight, stiffness, decently robust and still fast as most XC whips but ability to handle a little more when accidently gets in over its head occasionally. Great long ride machine or marathon bike when the course if techy.
