New boots & panties as they say in the classics.
Pirelli tyres are substantially lighter than Michelin DH tyres.
After blowing the Bomber CR rear shock 3 times, Fox sent me a new Float X. Impressed so far. Be rude not to have kept the Factory 36 on there as well.
Dropped 2.5kg to sit at 16kg even now.

A reviewer on Youtube commented that the chain stays on his Banshee Rune were 441mm, which is longer than what Banshee posts on their website. It could be a difference of where the measurement is made. I am looking for the rear center length; that is the measurement from the center of the BB to the center of the rear axle. On one of my current MTBs the rear center is different from the chain stay length if you measure the actual chain stay which is on a pivot above and slightly in front of the BB.

Could I ask for folks to post their actual rear center length from their bike (Center of BB to center of rear axle)?

Thank you all for your efforts.

Mine is 440mm give or take 1 or 2mm.

Only 1 ride with the bike, i have been impressed by the ability to climb in the rocks, if you have the legs, the Rune keep on climbing in the gnar. The only DH was not enough rough to really test the bike. I was surprised i only use 40 mm of the shock stroke (65 mm), so i thought there's too much tokens in it but there was only one, that i removed.
Waiting for the next ride !!

A question or questions for Rune riders and especially Mr Keith.
Hello all
Been riding my phantom(BC setup: codes, 200 mm rotors, 40 rise handlebars and minions front and back) last 4 years on all types of trails and absolutely love it. Been dreaming about a new Rune or titan for a very specific type of trail we ride regularly , backcountry long mule trails with very steep tight switchbacks with consequence.
1. Rune or titan mullet? I'm 6'3" on a Xl. Will the rune feel small? Please remember I'm thinking a bike that will help me enjoy steep switchbacks more.
2. 27.5 on front or mullet rune? I got started MTB late in life, straight to 29er with no 26 or 27.5 experience. Will the 27.5 on front seem small going through steep rocks?
3. Ideal 27.5 tire sizes front and back?
4. Ideal fork travel either mullet or 27.5 on front

thanks in advance for any advice super stoked with my current banshee and looking forward to another one

27.5 wheels definitely turn more easily at the expense of being a bit less stable (I think of it as more playful). If I were building a bike for steeps with tight switchbacks I'd probably go rune as it's really fun and easy to manage. Mullet titan is also an option, but a bit more effort and body language is required for tight switchbacks.

I'm 6'2" and ride a large for both, so XL should be good for you. A lot depends on build and setup.

The MX rune is good if you like a high front end... bear in mind that you are adding extra stack height both from front wheel, and from fork and thus reducing reach signfiiantly... I recommend sizing up if you take this option. I recommend a max travel of 160mm fork if running a MX rune. It is a pretty good setup for steeps due to high front end, and can be a really fun.

Thank you so much for your reply. Not often you can talk personally to the actual engineer that designed a bike. Love my phantom and sure will love new rune just as much if not more. Cheers

It's been a few years almost out of biking, but thankfully I got the 'ol adrenaline spark of shredding stuff back so pulled the trigger on a rune v3². It's going to be mad - ext e-storia, king/ enve wheels, 38 with perhaps a smashpot. Figured since the Scythe never let me down (except aging out of every old standard) i'd treat me some bomb proof modern goodness to abuse again for years to come. Gonna take a few more months to complete to my liking but with a rolling chassis it should be rideable pretty soon with donor parts.

Awesome stuff!! I really miss the old days of rad colours and themed frame model specific decals so i'll make this one pretty sweet with some themed all mountain style frame protection

Cool stickers, matches the raw nicely.

Here is my zebra. An ever bigger sticker kit or just a big sheet would've been neat but also a ton of work to make it look right. I'm pretty happy how it turned out for my first wrap ever and it's very low key.

So far i've had 2 bikepark days and 3 xc rides on her and she's a ripper! Absolute animal - pun intended. Very fun on technical bits and jumplines and such a step up from the 'ol scythe. The e-storia is a joy at eating rough bits yet I don't feel it sucks popping out of things. It's not done yet but I need some more rides in before I settle on crank arm length and stem length. (170 and 50mm atm) And eventually a dropper.

I am however baffled that with a 180mm 38 and 2.6 minion the headangle is a lazy 62.5'ish degrees, in the high setting! That doesn't feel right at all cornering. I'm not sure yet what i'll change, I like the 180mm travel for sending jumps and drops so not really looking forward to lower travel. Might do a +1° angleset but i'm also curious why it's this lazy? Surely i'm not the only one with a likewise setup.

Another thing I need to get used to (dare I say immediatly dislike about the rune?) is the rather insanely short rear end. Bb to axle is 436 mm while on my old scythe it's 441 mm. Considering how much longer the front end of the rune is this makes it feel awkward in fast corners. It's not impossible to go fast it just takes more work and it feels unbalanced. But this also has to do with the rather high bb height, which I very much like. I'm really tempted to make longer dropouts. Maybe this is something i'll get used to, and zebras are pretty wild creatures, but i'm also interested in hearing other peoples thoughts about this?

The zebra stickers look good too. Most stickers just look a bit ****.
Going from the V3 to the V3.2, I've swapped the drop outs to the steep position.
64º head angle was perfect on the V3, any slacker I feel is too much.

Why did you switch to a 3.2? They don't seem that different.

Has anyone upgraded form a 2.1 rune to a 3.2 rune? Any major differences in how it rides? I love by 2018 Rune, but considering upgrading the frame in the next year or two. I basically use it as enduro/park bike at this point w/ a coil shock and 180mm fork, as I prefer natural DH terrain and not really into flow/jump trails. Titan seems like a bit too much with 29" wheels and I love how nimble the Rune is with the 27.5.
