I've run the SRAM Centerline rotors that have come on a couple of bikes with SRAM Code Rs, when they get hot they tend to make loud harmonics/quealing sounds when braking lightly for me, I notice this mostly at the end of ride with a long downhill section as I'm lightly braking pulling up to gates. I've switched to Magura MDR-P with MT7s on one bike and they don't make any noise other than the slots on the rotor cutting the pads. I'm assuming the sound is due to the rotor and not the caliper/pads.

The HS2 is a single piece rotor similar to the centerline rotor, it is thicker and and has a different slot pattern and support structure vs the Magura MDR-P which has a floating rotor design. I want to get rid of the brake squeal on my bike with SRAM Code RSCs and was thinking of going with the HS2s to keep the same manufacturer through out.

Does the HS2 run quieter with no squealing when dry and hot?

Harmonic resonance is a funny thing to diagnose. It's the certain the fork/frame, caliper, pads and rotor combination that cause it.
What if it's the pads that resonate with your fork? Then changing rotor wouldn't help. What if it's the rotor vent hole pattern with the pads? then changing either pads or rotor would help.
Hard to tell for certain if it'll do anything. Just try it out...

I bought these for 2 bikes and there really is a difference in braking performance.

Worth noting that they don't have a 203mm model, and that's actually enough to effect alignment if you have a 203mm adaptor.

Thanks for the note on 203mm, I'm running 220/200mm so I should be ok as far as that goes. Good to know that it made a noticeable improvement in performance so if nothing else I'll get that.

I think I might go ahead and try it out, want to wait and see if anyone else has experience with them.

No kidding. I had a drivetrain/brake setup from 2001 that I transferred from frame to frame till 2014 (more or less everything was replaced/rebuilt at least once but the basic setup stayed the same) and brake harmonics that could get really bad on one frame disappeared on another.

Why not go to ceramic pads to get rid of the noise?
I had assumed it was the rotors that were causing the noise, after reading everyone's responses I don't know what to do now. I suppose I could swap my front wheel with the Magura rotor on for a ride and see if that fixes it if not move on to trying a different pad, I don't think I'd go as far as switching calipers at this point. Process of elimination...

Order the rotors... order some mtx reds(they are ceramic)... realign n make sure everything is nut n bolt'd... clean the brakes while the wheel is off....

If in the off chance this doesn't fix the noise-- you will at least have the brakes dialed and remove the entire brake system out of the "where is this noise coming from" equation..

I'm really interested in these pads... after some searching found a thread where MTX was active. I've got some Code RSC lever assemblies I'm upgrading to and want to try out (for brake feel, not noise) then I'm moving onto pads/rotors I'm trying to limit the number of changes I'm making so I know what worked and what didn't and I'm sure the pads will change the overall braking feel/performance.
