Makes me HAPPY that someone took care of business and built and designed that. Awesome.

I like creeping up on hikers and hearing what they're talking about. I guess my ragged gurgling breath isn't as loud as I think it is.

My i9 1/1 are louder than my Hydra. The Hydras are higher pitched but the extra engagements has quieted it down some. The Torch is the loudest of the 3.

Hope Pro4 are loud followed by the DT 350 with a 54t ratchet upgrade. I love my Pro4 but wish it had more engagement points.

My buddy rides a Nukeproof Horizon v2 wheelset. Riding next to him, I can't hear my own hubs anymore. Those are the louder than my Pro4, DT350, 1/1 and Hyrda wheels. Rumour has it that those v2 hubs are actually rebranded Spank Hex drive hubs.
I forgot about the nukeproof wheelset, those things are killer value. Does your friend run them with oil or just stock?

I heard the Chris King hubs get loud if you clean off the grease on the ratchet and use a light coating of Dumonde Tech Freehub oil.
My Kings are from 1996, sat for 15 years before being built up for my SS and have never been opened. My neighbor has all the King hub tools and I'll be going with Phils oil. I ride dry conditions.

I've had or have CK ISO, Hadley, but my Hope SS trial hub was so loud it would trigger rattlesnakes out in the scrub. Hadley maybe next, and CK ring drive 2 lube really quiets CKs down.

I like loud hubs, but not too loud. Haven't heard every hub to compare, but of the 3 ...

Chris King > i9 Hydra > DT 350 (54t)

I have 350s w 54t ... For me that's a good balance between price, durability, performance and noise.

I have the Nukeproof Horizon V2 102 POE and it definitely replaces a bell on the trails ! For me it is a little bit too much actually, I have seen that they sell a silent kit as well (I guess with weaker springs) might try that...

I have Hopes and they are pretty loud and kind of annoying. But previous to that the loudest I had was DT 350 and those aren't really loud at all. I'm about to start a new build using Hydras; have been behind someone with them and found them less annoying than my own Hopes.

I think "loud" can be a bit of a misnomer as pitch, clicks per revolution, resonance through the shell etc., all factor in. With that said Hope's make more noise than Hydra's. Hydra's to me sound precise, very precise, which I like.
