What are the LOUDEST hubs on the current market

You heard me, I know some of you hate it but some of you love it. Personally I have to commute a few miles on greenway paths with many people walking and cycling to get to my trail system, which then have lots of hikers on the trails. I get tired of calling out on your left, I’d rather coast to get their attention. I also really love the sound of loud hubs. I’m hearing so many mixed things in articles. One person says Hydra is loud, then the next says 1/1 is louder and Hydra is quiet, or I’ve also heard Hope is over exaggerated and not very loud. Most of the videos are useless because of course it sounds loud in your empty garage.

The two hubs that I know for sure would be loud enough (Profile Elite / i9 Torch) are obsolete

One of my riding partners has a Hydra set and they definitely stand out among the group. Most notably they are a higher pitch than the other hubs if not just a little louder. She states, “They’re kinda annoying.”
Never seen a pair, but I’ve read numerous posts claiming White Industries are the loudest. Curious what other replies have to say

My whites are quieter than my hadleys. The project321s aren't much louder, if at all.

It's not always the dB, sometimes it's the pitch itself...
Profile Elites
Trust me I would’ve got it but I don’t think it supports MicroSpline 12sp, or even modern 148x12.

I don’t really love the noise from my Bontrager 108 POE hubs, but I’ve come to appreciate the sound for the same reason when approaching pedestrians and slow riders. No bell required, just coast.

Hope's are the "loudest" I've heard. Definitely make more noise than everything listed aside from the Profile's which I've not heard their MTB stuff.

That seems to be the general consensus but then I also hear that’s not true and hopes aren’t nearly as loud as people make them out to be so I’m a bit conflicted lol.

I currently own both Torch's and Hydra's and have owned/ridden many others. My buddies Hope's make more noise, no contest. I'm sure there's some variation but that's been my experience.

The loudest and most noticeable I’ve heard personally is the Hydra. If you lube it with oil and not grease, it’s fairly loud.

But I haven’t heard a side by side test with it and other hubs discussed here. I just know my ears perk up when I hear one. Either because it’s distinctive, or because the tone/pitch is more aggressive/intense.

The sound varies quite a bit depending on how the hub has been maintained. I know that whenever I relube the pawls and the teeth with fresh grease, the hub is a lot quieter.

Some people will put use oil instead of grease or use minimal lube to make the hub really loud. Others will purposely bend the pawl springs to increase the tension and will also make the hub louder and remove all lubrication. Not recommended for longevity, but that's one way of making a hub louder.
FWIW I think my 1/1 (lubed with oil, not grease) is a only a little quieter than a Hope. Usually plenty loud for clearing a trail.
Also, Hydra is louder in my experience.
My DT hubs are not, even with 36 tooth ratchet.

They have Boost and Super Boost now. I think you’re correct with MS though.
My i9 1/1 are louder than my Hydra. The Hydras are higher pitched but the extra engagements has quieted it down some. The Torch is the loudest of the 3.

Hope Pro4 are loud followed by the DT 350 with a 54t ratchet upgrade. I love my Pro4 but wish it had more engagement points.

My buddy rides a Nukeproof Horizon v2 wheelset. Riding next to him, I can't hear my own hubs anymore. Those are the louder than my Pro4, DT350, 1/1 and Hyrda wheels. Rumour has it that those v2 hubs are actually rebranded Spank Hex drive hubs.
My Hopes are louder than my I9s. It's a positive clack clack and not the high whine zzzzzzz of the I9s. The Hopes do zzzzz but it sounds like a swarm of bees instead of a whine. I have no complaints with either. My quietest hubs are King.

I heard the Chris King hubs get loud if you clean off the grease on the ratchet and use a light coating of Dumonde Tech Freehub oil.
lol, I need to get me one of those for night riding.

That’s it, I’ve finally found it, no more searching for loud hubs 🤡
