Well, it's official, I have joined the Trance family with a 2016 27.5 Trance 2. Bought it new from a local bike shop and I'm happy with the deal we worked out. Now I just have to find time to go pick it up. Can't wait to start putting miles on it and getting back in the saddle after 15 years away.

I will try to keep my questions to a minimum and Google first, but I'm sure I will have some.

great now don't forget to do all the mandatory upgrades ASAP:
Fork
shock
wheelset
tires
brakes with bigger discs
stem
handlebar
drivetrain (1x11)
frame (carbon)

The saddle and the grips can stay.

Upgrades will be slow, need to ride it first. Been away for 15 years. I am an upgrade though, so that list will all eventually happen. [emoji13]

You don't need to upgrade. Congrats on the new bike and ride the hell out of it.

Seat may be my first, just to get one that fits me better, but it won't be until I have a few 100 miles on this one. My goal is to upgrade as things wear out, tubeless when I wear out stock tires, etc.

This is hands down, the nicest bike I have ever owned and can't wait to get it out on the trails. Work on getting in shape for next summer when we head to Northern New Mexico for a couple of months of heat relief and mountain fun. It was my time there this past summer that got me hooked back into riding (rented a 29" and a fatbike to try them out).

how can I find out the bb height of a '17 trance 2 ? LBS was no help and I can't find contact info for giant.thanks.
according to Giant it's 5mm lower than the old 27.5 frame (which is kinda hard to believe given the many pedal strikes I already have riding mine)

I will be able to give you real world measurements on Sept. 22th if you're still interested to know by then

I got to demo a trance this weekend, was impressed by the combination of pedalling efficiency and plush descending. The fit seemed odd though. I'm 5'8, rode a medium. Felt okay when seated pedalling, but when I dropped the seat to descend it felt like I was way behind the seat. Rode mediums in a few other bikes and didn't get that same feel. Anyone else notice this? Did you up size?

Trance size M should be fine. No way a size Large is gonna fit you well, especially as the 2017 frame is 10mm longer

First ride on the '16 Trance 2 on some local single track and it was amazing! Granted, the bike it replaced was a 94 Cannondale Super V, so I don't have a lot to compare it to tech-wise. Doesn't help being out of the saddle for 15 years either, I have a ways to go for getting in shape.

I do need to invest in a suspension pump and start dialing in the pressure to match my weight, but it was impressive even without tuning. I admit, it is a much better bike than I am rider and makes me excited to improve my skills.

Tips on a good fork/shock pump would be appreciated.
