I'm really hoping the TRc sticks around. I think it is the perfect 26" bike, and I also think it's ridiculous that companies are completely phasing out 26", Giant for example only has 2 26" bikes for 2014 and have said that the 26" will be gone for 2015. If SC decides that the TRc needs to go the way of the dodo, I may have to pick up an extra frame when they blow them out after discontinuing it.

I think a lot of us would. Maybe they'll realize that and keep it in production! I think it's funny that 26ers are getting phased out because a bigger wheel rolls better. Most the new trails being built (in my area anyway) are super flowy with berms, rollers, and beautiful dirt. You know it seems they're being built with the TRC in mind haha not for these big 29ers everyone is buying. Once mountain bikes really take off and we get more trail access and can have more beautifully sculpted trails, there will be a resurgence of 26ers. They'll mimick the TRC because at the end of the day nothing is better for ripping butter smooth, flowy single track.

No trail time yet, dumped rain most of today. Should be able to get it out tomorrow and get the sag/pressure and damping sorted. :)

That said, feels pretty damn nice around the block!

New rear triangle, now 1x10 (34t RaceFace narrow/wide ring x 11-36)
Had to change cranks because the RF Nexts I was running had a 120 BCD. Got the XTR's from a buddy at a good price. They spin noticeably better using the same bottom bracket. Warranty replacement RD, warranty replacement Fox DOSS. New rear rotor (I wore the old one out). Trying out the shock minus the volume spacer.
Schwalbe HD 2.35 F and 2.25 R.

Is that a 650b specific fork? How much travel?

Pike at 140mm?
Nope, 150mm. As far as I know, no-one has figured out how to lower them other than popping in a new cartridge - which is how Rockshox says you have to do it. The old spacer on the air shaft bit doesn't work with this design.

I'm wondering if the 140mm cartridge form the 29er fork could be made to work with the 26" version, or if the lengths are different enough with the internals that they wouldn't work? I'm not going to shell out the money just to try this, but eventually someone out there, or some shop will get curious enough to try it.

Playing around the house, I'm running a bit more sag than the prior fork, but it isn't diving under braking, and with two of the "bottomless tokens" installed, seems to ramp up nicely. Actual trail time later today to really see how it feels.

I already ride with a shock pump, but will take my socket setup with, so I can mess with the tokens on the air spring side on trail. Very quick and easy to do.

in XC setup

Here it goes. Santa sale frame + parts & bits "hmm let's see, what do I have here in the garage"...

It was build purely for XC trails, thus longs stem setup and nice stem to saddle drop.

Observations:
- Incredibly lively response

- Incredibly fast, faster then my 29er HT on any rough terrain (rotational weight?). Even though no any crazy light parts were installed.

- Already got several pedal strikes :)

- When my crossmax ST die (pictured), will go for SLRs

She will stay with me through natural end. I will keep this one in XC setup.

Before her was wondering whether capture or not light 29er FS, deal is done, will stay with 26" wheels in FS application.

Wonderful, fast, dynamic bike with reasonable amount of travel! Just love to ride it fast!

Your XC setup has how much fork travel?
Hi zauberer,
This is 3-4 years, or so, old REBA (first one released with "bulbs" on lower legs) set to 120mm travel. Pay attention - hope ZS lower headset cup is installed, no more then 5mm stack hight.

These together make 68.7 head and respectively 73.2 seat tube angel. BB dropped by about 5mm, reach increased by 7mm.

Bike is extremely fast, responsive but still very confidence inspiring on descents.

How was the ride with the new fork? Also, does running the Pike at 150mm void the warranty?

So what would be the exact axle to crown measurement with the Pike @ 150? My guesstimate is that should be around 530mm?

Thanks!

Great! It's a very, very nice piece of work. Super stiff. Damping feels great on slow, fast, small, and big stuff, with minimal tweaking to get the sweat spot found. Isn't divy on slow speed techy stuff, and has sucked up some decent sized stuff so far. All while feeling "buttery" smooth and very precise and stiff in the steering department.

Yes. The fork sags in pretty good, and I'm not worried about it at all. Running more sag than I did on either of the other two forks I used on this frame, but isn't wallowing in the travel at all. Considering I've already drilled the frame to run my Reverb Stealth, a couple more MM of fork isn't too big a deal. If a good way to get this fork down to 140mm shows up, I'll do that though.

Yep, about there, based on my crappy tape measure eyeballing in the garage, and compared to two other forks in the garage with known heights.

A few updates to my TRc:

-Went 1x10 with a wolftooth 32t ring
-Added an e13 XCX guide

No trail time yet as I just installed everything today, but can already tell I'm going to love it. Dropped about 2/3 of a pound with the new setup. Next up is to add a KS Lev in a few weeks, finally.

Does anybody experience a small play between weighted and unweighted coming from the back end with their TRC? Kinda of play thats noticeable only when you pick up the bike from the saddle?

I've replaced the DU bushings to no avail. It was ok for one ride but now the problem is back. With the sag, it's not noticeable when riding, but nevertheless annoying when I pick up the bike.

Help!

Have you tightened up all of the pivot axles?

I have the same issue frequently due to the shock bushings. For some reason I am going thru DU bushs really quickly on my TRc. I do not have the same problem on my Nomad, and so plan on switching to igus or something else. But like you say, the DU busg should not be the issue after just one ride. Have you checked the usual suspects - rear hub bearings, rear axle, saddle and most importantly, the linkage?

Yeah so I checked the axles. Everything is tight (as it should be, the frame is not even 1 month old - new frame from warranty as my last one had the circle crack issue)

I think I found the problem though. It's the mounting hardware. It's really loose inside the DUs and causing a bit of a rattle. I stuck a tiny rubber washer in there to tighten things up and the rattle was gone.

I'll probably go for the new Fox Mounting hardware to permanently fix this annoying problem.

Thanks for your help Mestapho.
