Let's see some pics and testimonials specs of your rigs, people. Getting mine tomorrow. Will put in my $.02 when I get some mileage in.

Has any one broken a XTC Composite frame yet? If so where and how? I have a very unusual creak and I have went through everything. It only happens during climbing with pedal force and you can feel it through the frame. It is also intermittent during the climb and only starts about 30 min into the ride. I'm at a total loss now. If it was an alloy frame I would say its a break but who knows with carbon? It sounds like a metallic and not a thud. Does Giant put aluminum inserts anywhere internally? Can a carbon frame fail internally and not external? My LBS has went completely through this bike and cannot find anything mechanically wrong. I am afraid of a total on trail failure.

My XTC developed a creak after around 250 miles. I overhauled the bottom bracket twice before I finally just replaced it. I also thought it make have been a frame issue, but it turned out to just be the press fit bottom bracket. Do a google search and you will quickly see that press-fit bottom brackets are notorious for developing creaks.

I think I found a problem with my bike.... Well I hope it's not a problem. The cable mounting that is screwed to the frame seems like its not fastened fully in. The mounting is raised but its not loose. After checking it out... I'm not sure what tool to use to tighten. It's a circle not even an alen key. Should I be concerned of the mounting not being fastened to the frame fully and it being raised off the frame?

Those cable guides are riveted to the frame, so there is no way to tighten them. Bring it back to the dealer since it is a warranty issue.

Tightened every bolt. Lubed every cable contact point. cleaned lubed and retorqued headset. Sounds like it's the Bottom Bracket or seatpost. Removed, cleaned and regreased and torqued. Still creaks. This line is around the BB area of the frame. Looks like I dropped the chain or the insert is cracking the shell. I'll have to get someone who see look at it.
That is a chain drop for sure, and not the source of your creaking. Most likely it's coming from the seatpost like mine.

I also developed rediculous creaking. I have removed seat post, cleaned, lubed and retorqued. Seemed to help initially but came right back. Tightened cogset, seemed to help but came back. Checked all the bolts, all seem tight. Gonna go check the cable guides now. Love this bike but can't ride it with the creaking. Way too annoying.

I use Finish Line Fiber Grip, which is a typical friction compound, between the carbon seattube and my aluminum seatpost. I'm fairly certain that is what causes the creaking as I have the same problem on my other bike where my carbon bar is bolteed to an aluminum stem. I just live with it because even I clean both surfaces and reapply compound, it will just creak again once dirt or dust mixes in.

Well I just pulled the derailleur hanger and applied a thin layer of grease on it's mating surface and the mounting bolt. It was a little dirty and dry. Then I removed the derailleur mounting bolt and lubed it. Quick driveway test and it seems squeak free. But it tricked me once before when I tightened the cogset, seemed to help but didn't. I'll have to go for a ride later and see if it's fixed. Thanks Silentfoe. Bulldozer, thats the same stuff I used and it didn't seem to make a difference even tho it totally sounds like thats the noise source.

Took my XTC Composite 1 29er for its maiden voyage last night on some XC singletrack near my home. I'd grade myself as a C+ or B- grade rider who is still learning the tricks of the trade but I couldn't have been happier with the way the XTC rode.

It felt like a rocket ship up climbs, was very forgiving if I missed the right line and held my momentum very well. I'm looking forward to many more miles of smiles on this bike:

Nice bike
How much does it weigh (and is it still stock components?)

What kind of chainstay protectors are you guys using? I just got a LizardSkinz Jumbo 29er and it doesn't seem to fit this huge chainstay.

I'd much prefer to get a neoprene protector other than using tape.
I got a Specialized protector because that was what my LBS had in stock when I purchased the bike. So I'm not sure how it compares to the Lizard Skin Jumbo.

To fit it properly I slid the protector as far forward as possible since the most likely point of chain impact is near the crank. But it didn't sit there like I wanted it too because the frame tapers off toward the back. A zip tie to tighten the protector on the back fixed that and it fits perfectly providing all the protection I need.

You can see it in my picture in post #63 above. Hope that helps and enjoy the ride!
