I have a 2013 Santa Cruz Tallboy carbon with a 100 mm FOX CTD fork. The fork feels way too harsh for small bumps in the "descend" mode, but it feels okay on big smooth bumps. It's so stiff it feels like the front wheel comes off the ground for some small sharp bumps. It feels like the compression damping is way too stiff. I can't even feel the difference between "descend" and "trail".

It's been like this ever since I got it. It took me a while to realize anything was wrong. This is my first 29er, and the wheels help to smooth things out. At first I thought it was supposed to be this stiff, then I noticed "Descend" feels the same as "Trail". I'm still not sure if it's a defect, or just a bad design.

How can I get this fixed?
Easy. Call Fox and tell them you want to send the fork in to have it upgraded to the 2014 damper/tune. It is much improved. $60 plus shipping. I did it with mine and it is much improved. The 2013 tune stunk...2014 is good in the same fork. That is, assuming you have a 2013 fork.
