You can't measure to the end of the shaft, because Fox uses an internal spacer to reduce the travel from 2.25" to 2" without shortening the shock. I have a 2" stroke shock on my Superlight that measures 2.25". Let the air out and compress the shock. Measure the distance to the o-ring as stated above.

I don't think that's up to Santa Cruz. As far as I know, that's how Fox sets up their 8"x2.25" shocks.
