I suspect you would quickly find yourself unable to keep up and that may (or may not, depending on how quick on teh uptake you are) realize that maybe you haven't got the slightest clue what you are talking about.
Say what? Because I happen to be older and slower than you and your mates, I have no idea what I'm talking about? Really? That's quite a stretch of the imagination right there.

I don't know that it is so much that you are older and slower (I'm no spring chicken myself) as it is that you tend to go to great lengths to chime in on a subject you admittedly have no direct experience with and approach the matter from a position of ignorance. Some people may find that enduring or even helpful, but it isn't really my cup of tea.

But as they say, to each their own.

That's beautiful. I wish we had more of that a bit closer to where I live now.
I'm completely surrounded by this bullshit. Can't get away from it. That particular TH is a 35 minute drive from my front door.

Must be some kind of sick joke.

Terrible life choices on my part I guess...

And that didn't strike you as a clue to maybe take things up a notch? Nothing against XC (as I said above that's what we rode today) but yeah if that's all I was riding I don't think I would want to do it every day either.

"I've seen far far more electric motor bicycles being pedaled along rail trails, along and down 4WD tracks, and easy walking trails than I've ever seen on my "technical XC" rides, by a long shot."

Maybe spend more time on the steeps, and less time on the rail trails? Could be a cure for both your boredom and your misunderstanding of what e-mtbs are all about.
Check mate, well played sir!

Yeah but you guys have all those sharp, pointy things from ankles to ears to have fun with.

I'd call it a draw.

After owning an ebike for 3 years, I realized I don't need it as much as I think. I've only accumulated 400 miles on my 2022 Levo. I rarely ride the bike. Even though I physically suffer on a daily basis, I still grab a non e-bike to ride. I don't know why. I think I enjoy pain.

Maybe I should try some whips and chains bondage sometime.

I’ve owned a Spectral Onfly for 154 miles (first e-bike). I’ve learned I get the same work out because I put in the same effort, yet I can ride faster, further, climb better and improve my skills. All is done in the same amount of time I spent on an analog bike. At age 63 it has provided much more enjoyment than I otherwise would not be able to experience. My analog bike is also a Spectral BTW.
That's a really good point. When I started mountain biking, I had good fitness from running but no skills whatsoever. I hadn't been on a bike in probably over 20 years. Over the years, my skills caught up to my fitness to where I was racing Cat 1 XC, and doing decently (no wins but lots of 3rds and 4ths out of 25-30). As I got into my early 60's my limiter was fitness, so my skills were never really tested or improving. With an e-bike, I can now ride as fast as my fitness allows through tight, twisty trails and be on the limit of control. It's a lot more fun when both fitness and skills are being tested the same amount. Otherwise trails get kinda boring.

I raced in two "real" races in my life. Came 1st and 2nd. It was in Yellowknife and it was on snow! They have a winter bike race for their winter festival there. It was a laugh. No sanctioned races here at all only the Enduro on the west coast. I am going to check it out next year, (only found out about it this year). If I like it, I will enter the old fart on a hardtail class and see what happens.

Been many years since our ride at Herny Coe.
I moved to Las Vegas 3 years ago. I've had several falls, endos, and faceplants, but surprisingly never into a cactus, just rocks and bushes. I do wear full body armor and full-face helmet, just in case.
And I now ride an ebike, essential after permanently breaking my foot sliding down some stairs.

Why not?

If you want solitude and not to be interupted by fucktards at the bike park go super tech gnarly. If you do see someone they are a skilled mofo that are generally chill.

The uptight, self entitled idiots are piddling around the greens and blues......
For some of us, that's our limits. If I could ride the super gnarly I absolutely would.

Also, we definitely have our share of self-entitled riders from both worlds on the blacks and double blacks in Colorado.

I ride during the week at the bike parks to avoid the crowds. That helps a lot with avoiding people.

Personally, I do not use my e-bike (or any of my bikes) “for the workout.” I go to the gym for that. I ride for fun. This is a concept that endurance types can’t seem to grasp.
100%. I'm not sure why they can't either. My eeb lets me ride with my endurance type friends, as opposed to being the last constantly and not riding with anyone.
