Tyre upgrade 27.5 x 2.3" to 2.4" possible?

Hey guys, I'm getting a 2019 Stumpjumper ST 27.5.
It comes with 27.5 x 2.3" tyres but a friend is giving me his spare set of Continental 27.5 2.4" tyres. my question is would it fit on my bike and still give me enough room to run trails? would it clog up if there was mud?

i'm hoping I can put the tyres on as my friends told me they're better than the stock tyres the bike comes with.

In this day and age, highly doubt you're going to have issues running a 2.4" tyre in any frame and it's not going to cost you anything to try them and see if they fit and work. Also, just because one brands lists a tyre as 2.3" and another lists as 2.4", doesn't always mean that the one listed as bigger is in fact actually the bigger tyre. You're new to the sport, you will learn this eventually, most accurate listing to look at is the ERTO sizing, that is normally fairly accurate.

ERTO sizing numbers normally look something like this 54-584, where 54mm is the widest part of the tyre and 584 is the wheel size, i.e. 650B/27.5"
