I've got some chips in my '08 Stumpjumper FS frame that I'd like to paint - both for vanity and maintenance. What are some ways to do this?

It's a former demo bike. Color's TURQUOISE BLUE.

Suggestions??

Thanks! :)

You can go to an automotive store and find a little bottle of touch up paint. The trick will be getting something that is a close match to what you have. Not sure if bike manufacturers actually sell touch up paint but you could always contact Specialized to find out.

haha...no, i was just joking... but it's actually not a bad idea. you could select the color and check out what PMS (Pantone) number is. Just take the photo in neutral lighting.
Funny how ideas work out :)

to me its pretty futile, marker touch up paint nail polish you name it, you cant get it to look remotely as good as it was before it chipped, and thats the key word, chip, the paint chips off specialized gloss finishes and it looks really ugly,

you guys will probably think im nuts but i got myself some sand paper and actually sand the chips in the paint until its flat smooth to run your finger over, to me it looks a lot better than having divots and holes in your finish, ok the bare aluminium is exposed but it looks hardcore, i got the idea from looking at a demo that was painted to look like it had paint spots missing!!!

Hobby shops usually carry a wide range of paints for models where a close match can sometimes be found. At minimum, it's a good idea to apply clear nail polish or clearcoat over the chipped area to help prevent further chipping.

Something I did years ago on a 94 or 95 stumpy(the rose color they had). I stripped all the paint and used mothers polish on the bare aluminum(it was M2 then).....I have to say it looks killer if you take the time and effort. I had so many compliments on how well that bike looked it was unreal.

Something to think about if the chips get out of control...
