Hello,

creeping up to my 60‘s and after reading the testosterone therapy thread I was wondering what home test’s can be recommended before heading to the doc.

Or are they all more or less the same?

Thank you.

I look in the mirror and flex, if I like what I see they my T levels are good. Also sex, no explanation needed. (I hope)
I am in love with the man in the mirror as long as I can remember who can do no wrong so I am all set.

Thanks mate, did not think it was that easy.

But what is that sex you are talking about?

No idea but if you do get on some kind of therapy, the doc is going to insist on routine blood tests at least annually anyway. If you think you could benefit, and you're in your 60's, you're probably right and should just go ahead and make an appointment.

Are you in the USA or another country?

I had bloodtests June-2024 and my T level low-low, 133 NG/dL.
My doctor checked for other issues with a 2nd round of tests, pituitary gland focused.
Fortunately for me those came back as "within norms".
He prescribed me 90 day supply of Gel treatments, with a follow-up in 90 days to do another blood test and see where my T levels are and my situation.

FWIW - I live in Michigan, he had me sign a "controlled substance" form.
I pickup my treatments this afternoon.

Curious why you don't want a more doctor - patient approach for broader holistic view of your health?

btw, are you a Strava subscriber?
They have a neat fitness chart you can do look back and see over time your level.
For me, it does correlate to when I felt "less" .. 2022 - 2023 was overall consistent, then early 2024 the data shows my fitness declining to a new lower normal, which I did not realize till on group ride where I was lead-mid pack suddenly I was mid-end of pack ..

fwiw - I don't play "doctor" with my health.
Yes I do study the info, make sure it's un-baised source (.edu for example which should also have peer reviews vs a .com profit making one).

There are primary and side effects to consider with any treatment ...

Good and fingers crossed that you check out when you go again.

I am in western NC and it was just a thought to use a home test, no idea about the cost of those, since I just had my yearly inspection.

My doc is pretty cool, I see him for years now and also rides besides that I have no problem with western medicine but am open for things.

Last year I used the Let’s Get Checked” app. I paid $199 and I got a discount as Greg Duecette is/was a partner with them. I think he is currently partnering with Transcend.
Anywho, the Let’s Get Checked at home test was easy and the results came back with a few days of submitting them.

This thread is great,

I seriousness though...I think you can tell by your sex drive. Of course I am a doctor...yeah. I noticed when I wasn't exercising at all for like 2 years, drinking too much and turning 45 years old, my sex drive was waning. A week would go by before I realized I hadn't visited the nookie department, and that isn't good. If you no longer wake up tent camping at all, those might be signs you are low because your testosterone is highest first thing in the morning.

I started back on the bike, weights and running and cut back on drinking, and even though getting close to 50, I am back on track with the tent camping and drive. Diet and exercise matter in this department. If that doesn't work and you want to make your partner happy, the Dr. is probably a good bet.

Just had a physical yesterday and fortunately mine is fine. But why do they give you a gown to wear when they're going to make you pull down your drawers, grab your junk, and shove their fingers all up inside of you?
