I'm hearing some light ticks and clicks, which sounds like it's coming from the front.

Also since I'm going to change the fork I'll do the headset in one go. My experience with oem headset and bearings is not great, had a bottom inner race fall out before.
I have something similar in one of my bikes. I've come to the conclusion that it's probably the crown steerer unit in the fork (Fox Rhythm 34 in my case). Pretty hard to reproduce the noises on command, but after watching enough youtube videos I finally started to hone in on this.

Edit: That said, I can't comment on the quality of the headset or the exact sounds that you're hearing.

Those of you that have recently ordered bikes how long did it take to arrive from the time you ordered?
Local shop told me that they weren't expecting any until December of this year. It's still a "if you can find it online somewhere then buy it" type of environment, unfortunately. If you go to the Specialized website and select your bike model + size there's an option to search nearby stores. For me, the nearest shop with a complete bike was 300+ miles away, which is a hard NOPE with these gas prices.

So I ordered a frame on Monday and a fork on Tuesday and they both arrived today. Wheelset is on the way from Specialized. Drivetrain and the rest are waiting for me at my LBS. Slightly excited about this one...

Two artists teamed up to make some limited edition frames. There aren't a ton of photos available of them, and I suspect that a lot of the subtleties don't come through in photos. Mine looks much better in person, and I suspect the Earth and Fire versions look pretty rad in person, too. I'll share more photos once it's all put together.

I opened up the front end to have a look and grit had made its way into the headset. Headset didn't seem to have any seals built in. Also noticed the top compression split ring was separate from the top cap and wasn't that good. You could tell it was made to a price level.

I found a chisel in stock a year ago. I just got a text yesterday from a shop i was on a waiting list. They are out there, you just gotta find them. Frames are available too. I find it interesting that a frame is $1500 and an entire bike is $1600. Love this bike!!

oh right, specialized support replied to my headset query.

"

The problem is the offer and demand. I was able to find my frame at the original price under 1k. All is due by COVID.

So would this not just be a standard ZS44/ZS56 headset? You can get a complete headset Cane Creek 40 Part number: BAA0533K ($79) or Cane Creek 70 Part Number BAA1186K ($117). I personally think that the 70 is worth the extra money same cups, but better bearings & seal. That being said I have a 40 on my full suspension and have not had any problems with it.

im getting a 110 for sh1ts and giggles, perhaps should just have went for a 70...

I would have probably got a 110 when I ordered mine, but they did not have any available. The 110 does have the nicer machined cups, and life time replacement. Practically speaking I'm not sure if you would ever notice the difference, but it's nice to know that you have the best.

How are people getting their chisel to be so light?

my comp is 12kg including 400 gram pedals with the changes being

xtr 180+160mm rotors (~-160 gram)
xt m8100 crank with wolftooth 32t ring (~ -280 gram)
rockshox 32mm sl ult ( ~ - about 1-1.2kg)
xtr 9100 chain (negligible)

My brooks saddle adds at least 200 grams tho.
