Anyone know the weight in the stock wheels on the 2021 Chisel?
On the base model, they are 2015g. 1165g rear, 850g front. That is with the centerlock screws removed but with the tubeless tape still on, on my digital kitchen scales, weighted out of the box.
The rim alone is around 410g, that’s not too bad for an alloy XC rim.

Just read that the rear brake mount on the mk2 frame won’t fit a four piston calliper. Is this true?

Ruins my frame upgrade plans.

Just tried with 4pot XTRs. Technically they fit, but the caliper is touching the frame and pushed all the way out. So no way I’ll be able to get the rotos aligned with new brake pads. It might work with a 30-50% work out pad on the outside. But personally I’m not willing to go through that hassel for the lifetime of the frame.
I also think the XTRs are quite slim compared to other options out there. If you want I can try the current and previous (the Saint styleone) XT 4-piston calipers as well.

Chisels seem to be low on stock.. Called up a spec dealer, last shipment was three months ago and they had no idea when or if new stock is coming in. Also no idea when the 22 models are coming.

Currently have a 26 2008 stumpjumper ht.

Has anyone measured their STA on the 2021 chisel? I changed the fork on mine to a 120, which should have made the STA around 73 deg according to geo specs. When I measured the STA it is sitting closer to 70 deg. I was just curious because i'm looking at getting a full suspension bike to go with my chisel, but was concerned about the 76 deg STA being too steep. I figured that after the fork sag the chisel would be sitting around 74-75 deg, but was very surprised that it was measuring closer to 70 deg.

The seat tube bends though, so the tube doesn’t point directly at the BB. Effectively, it ends up putting you in a more forward position than the actual angle would suggest. To get the “effective STA”, take a straight edge from your saddle clamp to the bb and measure the angle off that.

I have a question about switching from a 2019 frame to a 2022 frame. I'm riding a 2019 Chisel frame with a fork with 51mm offset. I see they are now equipped with a smaller offset, seeing 43mm stated online. If I use my 51mm offset fork on the new Chisel frame, will it be noticeable? I love how my bike rides, so am somewhat apprehensive. It seems like some people notice it - others don't.

I'm thinking of getting the 2022 complete Chisel at $1600 and switching all my old parts over to the new frame and all the new parts to the old frame. That way I can give my the 2019 frame with new parts. He doesn't ride a lot so I figure this would be a great opportunity to get a new frame and him a reasonably good bike. But would the 42mm offset on the old frame feel weird? I don't want him to get him something that handles weird.

I've got a 2020 Fox 32 SC on my Chisel frame that I'm hoping to keep using a while. The lower and uppers have been replaced through warranty relatively recently. 5900 miles on the internals, otherwise new.

Did my first ride on my 2021 Chisel today and am very happy! Nice upgrade compared to the 2015 Stumpjumper HT it is replacing. Very interesting to see how even 29er hardtails have progressed over time. It’s still a little heavier then the SJ HT, but I’ve got some nice upgrades just waiting for me to finish building the wheels. Sanded an clearcoated Next R cranks are also just waiting for the paint to dry and the drivetrain to be changed. Although the performance of the Deore 12 speed is quite impressive for the price! I just don’t get along with the shifter ergonomics.
Amazing what a good bike you can get these days for that price.

I have been riding my chisel a lot on more trails with lots of roots on the down hills. I was thinking of putting a wider tire on the rear to add a little more cush. Has anyone put a wider tire on the rear and noticed much of a difference? Also, is 2.4" the wides tires that will fit on the rear, and would it benefit from a wider ID rim 30mm vs 25mm? I have been on the fence with getting a full suspension, but I love the way the chisel rides and a full suspension is a lot of $$. I am currently running a 2.3" fast track on the rear and a 2.3" ground control on the front.

no i was comparing it to the aluminum. The carbon is almost a pound lighter than the chisel.
I was talking about the complete bike, not only the frame. And my SJ HT is indeed carbon, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Chisel comes close (it is also size L compared the M on the chisel).
After all my upgrades I expect (or at least hope) that my Chisel will be around 11kg (about 24lbs) with a dropper, pedals and decent tries.

My chisel is at 8.5 kg and even if I add dis fork and dropper is gone be lighter than that.
