Specialized rims do come with 2bliss rim strips pre-installed but there are mixed reviews about how well they work. Personally, I would just use some good quality rim tape and be done with it. Orange Seal endurance is great.

As for other upgrades, what's your goal? Are you racing it? What are the downsides to the current components? Personally, I don't upgrade anything unless I have a goal in mind.

No racing just intermediate xc trails for fun and getting in shape. So far the bike has exceeded my expectations. Its fast, responsive, climbs and descends great.

Then imho, you should just ride it until you find something you don't like. Sometimes heavier components aren't bad because they can be more sturdy and you don't worry about them if you crash. With carbon bars, I worry everytime I crash hard with them or there is a scratch. But if you find that the stock alloy bars are too harsh and want something with vibration dampening, then maybe carbon bars are worth a look.

Thanks! Im just somone the lives to mod and tinker with things lol. I just need to ride it and enjoy. Its more than capable for what I am using it for. Much better bike than the Rockhopper Comp I came from.

cool! I will get the tubeless kit and make that my next upgrade. Did alot of research and Orange Seal seems to get the best reviews for ease of install as well as puncture sealing. I read that the Chisel has rim tape installed so i just need valves and sealant, correct? Thanks for noticing the 2002, i get the bike inside by removing the front wheel and laying the passenger seat back. Most people are shocked a bike fits INSIDE that car. Im restoring a 64 volvo wagon to be my bike carrier so the 02 doesnt have to lol.
You might want to re-tape the rims. Lots of choices for tape, I wiped the rims down with alcohol and used gorilla tape from homedepot.

Question...now that I have riden my 2021 Chisel for 300+ miles, what upgrades should be prioritized? I already have a Command Post dropper post and Race Face Chester pedals. I has thinking carbon handle bars...going tubeless, and then? Are the Stout Pro cranks boat anchors? I cant find any info on them...XT cranks are not too expensive and may be a nice weight savings. Maybe XTR cassette and chain? Next year probably a lighter fork (Fox 32?).

Here is a pic of it just before a nice trail ride....

The question is how far you want to go and. Money wise. And a actual weight. I put my together and is really light 8.5kg but I started frame up. Not with a whole bike.

So I don't really ride my 2019 chisel all that much anymore, bought another bike( Ripley AF). So I am thinking about selling it, located in Texas, what do you think would be a good starting price? I have an idea, but I was just wanting some actual feedback.

"Used Specialized Large Men's 2019 Chisel Comp X1 large frame, great condition.

I just installed a 120mm fork on my 2021 chisel and it rides great on the down hill sections, but on the tight turning sections it tends to oversteer a little due to the increased wheel flop. Has anyone else notice this when going to 120mm fork on the chisel? Any easy solutions on how to reduce the wheel flop? I went from the Judy 100mm fork 42mm offset to a Reba 120mm 42mm offset fork. I wonder if a 51mm offset might have been a better choice.

I have sometimes encountered awkward steering geo when pairing shorter steeper bikes with short offset forks. In my experience short offset forks work best with long slack bikes, otherwise you bring the front wheel in too far and it can knife in on tighter turns. That said the stock short offset judy with the stock 70mm stem felt pretty normal.

Now I am running a 51 offset 120mm fork with a 60mm stem and it works great. An angleset could help as it would give you some reach back and bring the wheel out further, but may push the bike beyond its designed intentions. Simplest thing would be to try a slightly longer stem

Do you think it is worth the money to change the fork to 51mm offset? I think I can get parts for around $200. I went with the 42mm offset fork because that is what was on the bike originally and that is also the same offset the put on the epic evo. I also wondered if the 51mm offset would make the hike less stable again. That was one thing I liked about the 120mm fork.

Whether it's worth it is up to you, fork offset changes are relatively subtle. I would definitely try a 5-10mm longer stem first as it is inexpensive and easy. Anglesets are also less expensive than a csu and are easy to resell if you don't like it

Personally if I were to change fork offsets I would just sell the fork and get another one. Otherwise you're left trying to sell a csu. You could probably find the same fork and sell the old one without losing anything, maybe even find a nicer fork since 51 offset is out of style. And yes I find the the 120/51 setup to be more stable than the stock setup

No, then again I am used to riding much slacker bikes so I may not be as sensitive to it. Would also try dropping a couple stem spacers from where you were with the 100mm setup if you haven't already

I need to replace my chsiel 2021 headset as pretty trashed. Anyone know which specific upper and lower I need. Also any recommendations that arent Chris King expensive?

I sold my Chisel over a year ago, but while cleaning out my parts bin, I found a couple spare RD hangers I had for it.

If anyone wants them, I'll send em both for $20 shipped in the US. Here's my PB ad if you want to see them:

Message me here or PB. Figured someone here could use them since I have no use for them anymore!

Hi All, total noob here! I love my 2021 Chisel Comp in Black (Large) and recently bought some DHF and DHR2 29x2.3 tires. I probably should have bought the rims first but..... i am looking at getting the DT Swiss XM1700 rims which have 30mm internal width. Checking out DT Swiss compatibility page i think these will work but wanted a second opinion from the experts (you guys). Happy to hear alternative suggestions for the rims. I weigh 80-85kg ride quite hard on mixed surfaces and dont want to baby my equipment so would prioritise durability over weight. Thanks Again. Can upload pics of my ride if anyone is interested

The rims will work. It's the hub spacing you need to worry about. You need 110 spacing in the front and 148 spacing in the back.

And if you want to use the existing cassette, you will need to make sure the freehub body is the same as your current one.
