Hey all,

On the way back from my trails yesterday I noticed the dreaded creak coming from the rear, more noticeable under load. I have managed to trace it to some lateral play in the rear hub. Would it be expected that the warranty cover this issue?

For some background, My chisel is 11 rides long after yesterday with a majority being path or xc trails.

Outside of this the bike is an absolute jet.
Is the rear axle tight?

My front derailleur had loosened several times and causes much creaking under power.

Oh and 2x rules hehe / jeje

For those using a 30mm crank, what bottom bracket are you using. I'd like to use my PF30 crank but I want to get the proper bb.

Just don't settle for the Raceface 30mm axle BB. I've had nothing but issues with those on previous bikes- almost immediately start creaking.

I am smack-dab in the middle of a Medium and a Large. This will be a frame up built gravel bike exclusively. Any feedback on going one way or another?
I should have my large built and riding at DTE next week week. You can can try it if you like. I'm 5'11, 32 inseam. I rode a friends large with 80mm stem and it felt perfect.

I was able to check out a large for fit and it works well enough for gravel. I went ahead and ordered a frame yesterday, but I am still looking for the correct headset. Cane Creek does not list the Chisel in its finder. Does anyone know the actual standard it requires?

The frame comes with headset and seatpost.

Maxxis Ardent 2.4 on Rear Wheel?

Hi folks,

I am looking for a new set of tires and came across the Maxxis Ardent, which is available in two sizes. I read that this particular tire is quite narrow so i am wondering if anybody can recommend the 29x2.2 or 29x2.4. If the 2.4 fits in the rear i would go for it but i haven't come across any info regarding the Ardent on the chisel yet. Any tips are highly appreciated.

A 2.4 will fit no problem. I like the Ardent Race in 2.35 better for the rear though, with a Forekaster in the front.

Thx for the tip. Will also have a look at the race/forecaster combo although I am quite tempted to go for a skinwall tyre this time ( which obviously limits the choices).

Thanks, but I still would like to know the specs if anyone has them. I am planning on using a CC Angleset, so it would be helpful to get the correct one the first time.
CC doesn't make an angle set that works with IS headsets like spec uses across most of their line.

How good are the standard wheels on the chisel?

The Stout XC 25mm 29's?
From my experience they are reliable and they do the job pretty well. But that also depends on bodyweight and preferences. If you want to reduce the weight of the bike then replacing the wheels definitely makes sense since the standard wheels aren't lightweight.
