I have now decided to order an Epic 2020 in black with white Specialized, too. Than I will have got both dream bikes, Chisel and Epic in black/white. The Chisel got only some Hope F20 the Epic will get some Roval Cabon Control wheels and also the Hope F20 Pedals. I use the Chisel for every day and the Epic for the special races!

I have today installed my Rainier 27.2 110mm post. Easy peasy. Wish it had slightly more travel. The only one for 27.2 I could find that was longer was the KS Lev but I like the supposed reliability of the coil on the PNW. We shall see. Thanks to @mike2mtb for the heads up

Mine is one of the original comps, when they first came out in 2017. So it was 2 by 10. I have also just made it 1 by 10, with a 30t ring, and a sunrace 40 cassette, with my exsiting 10 speed xt mech and shifter,. The other stuff was worn out so this was a no brainer. So I saved weight with this, but added it back with the dropper.

Also tubeless of course. Otherwise it is stock. XL in metallic grey.

Here's my build so far. Weighing in at 23.7lbs. This bike has been such a pleasure to both ride and wrench on.

Size M
Roval Traverse Carbon Wheelset
Maxxis Ardent 2.4 Fr
Maxxis Ikon 3.5 Rear
DT Swiss 350 Hubs
Fox 32 SC Factory Fork
PNW Rainier Dropper
Enve M5 Handlebars
Sram XX1 Crankset
Sram GX Cassette
Time ATAC XC 8 pedals

All my Friends who are riding a fully will go back to a hardtail. The chisel is so outstanding in forgiveness an all the force goes directly straight to the backwheel. I also ordered an 2020 Epic hardtail to test against the chisel. For People wants an absolute race bike Specialized Hardtails are the absolute Adresse!

Lovely. Are you running a 100mm fork or 120? I am curious to see how it would be with a 120

I am scratching my head about rigid singlespeeding a chisel or a Fuse. The chisel hits all the marks for being aluminum, light and XC I want, just no adjustable dropouts, are you guys happy with your chisel setup SS if you have and with what tensioning options be it dinglespeed or bottom bracket, I am sure some have verntured here.

Well the best way would probably be a Phil Wood Philcentric, but that's an expensive piece of equipment. Experimenting with different gear ratios may yield results, but you could also BB mount something like a blackspire stinger to keep pressure on the chain.

Finally posting pics.
Finished the build saturday afternoon, but couldn't ride until today.
The 2018 Fox 34 is amazing! There are 2 spots on my trails that always put stress on forks, no flex from this guy.

Bike rode pretty nice, need a couple more rides to make a final determination. Initial thoughts are that the XL frame flexes a little more that I had expected, but nothing horrible. We'll see though.

The weight below is with pedals, cages and bottles (empty of course).

SLX rotors 180/160 (same weight as Ice Tech, but 1/5 the price)
GX shifter and R. Der
XX1 Cassette, 10-42

Stans Arch wheel set w/ 6 pawl free hub

Evilbullit, hi. Do you have a Long Term Review of your Chisel EVO with the 120 mm fork? Did it work out? Pros and cons of going 120? Climbing? Descending? Turning? Fork Flex?

chrispidgeon, cool. Glad it worked out. I'm loving mine. Still working awesome after 9 months of riding.

Shocking how much I use the dropper seat post (now that it's there). Takes a few rides to get used to seat being lower on downhill turns (using the inside of your legs for stability). But opens up a lot of movement (and safety - getting back futher).

Tip: Add some carbon paste to the dropper shaft under where it clamps (after you find your sweet spot). Then PNW Rainier dropper stays locked at that level (for full extension).

For anyone who needs it, here it the video showing how I installed the PNW internal dropper into my Chisel:

Hope that helps.

I've been running a 120 SiD on mine, love it.

lovemonkey, hi. How many rides have you had on the 120 mm fork? What kind of differences are you noticing? Climbing? Descending? Cornering? Was it worth the change? Notice any more stability on the downhill? Any drawbacks/penalties? Thanks. Thinking about making the change and looking for insight from those who have.
