Thanks again. My tires are fully setup now and are properly holding air. Since I’m new to mountain biking, any suggestions on how to roughly figure out tire pressure? Is there like a basic guideline/formula? Like rider weight divided by xxxx? Thank you again in advance for the assistance folks. 🫡
You can use this calculator to get you in the right ball park. I found it calls for pressure that are a little higher than I like. If it helps i'm 160lbs and I run around 20PSI front and rear on my chisel. And I ride 18F 20R on my trail bike (wider wheels).

Thanks for the link. My tire are the stock Fast Trak 2.3 on the tire wall it says 25-60 psi. That means I can’t go below 25 psi correct? Btw I’m 150 lbs.

you can go lower than 25 psi. If you go to low you will start getting squirmy or start burping the tire. You can also get rim strikes if too low and you hit a rock or something. I would suggest setting somewhere between 20-25 psi and see what you like.

Anybody running 120mm fox 34 on their chisels? I weigh around 87 kilos, big belly haha. Having a hard time deciding on which fork to get. Fox 34 factory stepcast 120mm/100mm or fox 32 factory sc 100mm.
I run a 120mm 34 Stepcast on my Epic hardtail (same geo as the Chisel). Same weight as you as well, on an XL frame. I prefer it- just enough extra cush and confidence vs. the SID Brain it originally came with. I removed ~15mm of spacers from under the stem when I made the change, and everything feels great.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone fit shimano xt M8120 4 piston clliper brakes into their chisel? TIA!

Hi again, what size is your Chisel? Is it kinda normal for the rear brakes to feel slightly softer (for lack of better term) than the front? Are yours like that?
I ride a large chisel. As for the brakes my rear always feel more touch than the front. I can lock them up easier than the front brakes. I did change my rear rotor to a 180mm so it matches my other wheel sets. So that could be part of the reason. It could also be a number of things causing your rear to be less responsive: air in brake line, dirty rotor or pads, free stroke adjustment, locking up rear tire.

Thanks again for the quick reply. Braking power wise my front and rear are the same. But as far as the lever feel when I press, I feel like the rear one is ever so slightly softer.

I’m a little bigger than you at 95k but I’d get the 34 everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Just runs a little stiffer and a bit more confidence inspecting. I feel like the 32 just gets a bit flexy under hard braking and maneuvers. I would try to find a 19-21 one though so you can run 2.6 tires if you want.

Just bought a brand new 2023 fox32 factory a week after my post as the local bike shop here gave me a 30% off on the price. Thank you for the insight tho. Will definitely look into the fox34 if I switch to downcountry riding. Currently doing lots of uphill. My bike is about 10.5 kilos with the only carbon part being the stem spacers. Haha

Hi again!

Any body here using the m8100 crankset for 1x12? I was wondering if the chainring it came with has an offset? I want to purchase a lighter chainring but cant decide if I need 0mm or 3mm offset for the chisel 2021 model. I measured the chain stay clearance at about 6.5mm with the m8100 crankset with a 34t chain ring. Oh and I'm using the m8100 10-51 cassette. Chain doesn't drop when I back pedal on the 51t.
