I reckon you have the 15mm torque caps which are specifically there to help improve engagement with the Rockshok forks. Not essential per the below link. So imho you just need the "standard" 15mm end caps.

This is what is fitted, never seen this before. I have bought the replacement now, just rather annoying Specialized EDC Front L/R Set TA 15x110mm 31mm OD with Hub Axle

Has anyone had issues with the cable rattling noise? I'm building up my frame this week and was just wondering if I should take any preventative measures while I'm at it

Anybody single speeded their Chisel? How are you liking it?

I have a chisel geared and a epic set up as single speed. The epic is a blast set up as a single speed so go for it. I tried a phil wood ebb on the epic but the carbon frame did not allow full rotation of bb so limited its tension adjustment and did not work well with gearing I was running. I put a Paul Melvin on it instead and really like it on my hometown trails.

Using it in Central TX now and not liking the tensioner nor using a lightweight carbon frame in the tech. So going to ss the chisel as I ride it like a ss anyway even though it has gears. The phil wood and trickstuff ebbs should work fine with the chisel so going to give it a shot as I have the phil i still have.

I’m try to figure out what all I need to convert. Going to try the least invasive route possible. So some sort of tensioner, probably the problem solver Zinger XD conversion and I’ll probably get a different chainring just so I can save the wear on the 12 speed stuff. Any input would be appreciated. Have no idea where to start in picking a ratio.

These are the two ebb’s i have and both would work well with chisel frame design at bb. They did not work well with my epic due to carbon frame design at bb.

there are cheaper models of threaded ebbs also but I know these worked well without issues for me other than my frame issue not allowing full tension adjustment. I had to use half link chains on my epic.

On the tensioner I used a paul melvin but there is no reason to go so expensive as there are many options for this. I have the melvin because it works with full suspension bikes as well.

Maybe I’m looking at something wrong here but why do you run both an EBB and a tensioner?

Having now tried the chisel at 120mm, i like it very much. Feels rowdier, the position is slightly more relaxed and my hands just fall in place at the right height and angle. I even feel climbing and clearing obstacles have improved and turning is more stable; I find myself able to hold trackstands for longer.

Interesting, would you post a pic of the epic?

Hi,
I want to swap out my 2021 Chisel fork with a rockshox sid select 29. How do I know if it will fit? Seller says it's from a 2021 epic Evo with 120mm travel, 44mm offset, boost, steer tube 6.75". Thanks.

Pretty sure all the 2021 Sid forks will fit a '21 Chisel.

I think my concern would be with how much they've cut the steerer tube down. If the previous owner was running a slammed stem then they may have cut it down a bunch. Might be worth reaching out to the previous owner to see how they were running it on their Epic Evo.

I have ran a 17mm & 17.5mm (6.69' & 6.88") steering tube on my Large chisel. With the 17.5mm (6.88) tube I can only run two 5mm spacers. I also have a cane creek 70 headset installed, which I think is about 5mm taller than the factor headset.

So, that fork will fit on your bike as long as your not riding a XL frame. If you are running a Med or Small you should have plenty of room because the head tube is 15mm shorter than the large frame.
