Here are a couple choices

I'm doing a non traditional triathlon (paddle down river instead of swim) here in a few weeks with a 12 mile on road bike section and will be using my mtb since I don't have a road bike. It's a pretty light setup overall ( Flux, 22.5lb w/o tire/tube and a set of lightweight American Classics).

So my question is:
What's the smallest, fastest 26" slick tire I could use for the road? Have looked at a few online retailers and it seems like the best option is Hutchison Top Slick Air Light tires. They're 1.0" and can be inflated to over 100 psi. Is this doable with this wheelset? Any thoughts? Any other better tire out there for this situation? Thanks in advance for any replys.
Well, I'm not sure you really want the very very fastest tire or if you are really into every single second lower time.
If you would like a cheap but good solution for that mere 12 mile section, then Performance Bike has their 355 gram 26 x 1.25 tire that can be pumped beyond its 85 psi rating. I have one on front and regularly run 100 psi on it.... Only $8.99 on sale this week and if you buy over $50 of stuff you can get 99 cent shipping with the following code
99CSHIP but only for 5 days
This tire, the Forte Slick City ST MTB Tire is certainly the best value around.
Just as good as the Specialized Fat Boy which costs more than double the price and weighs just as much despite what they say.

On the other hand, after lots of investigation, I now run the 26 x1.0 Specialized All Condition Pro.... Pumps up to a rating of from 115 to 125 psi safely.
Says it weighs 285 grams but mine only weigh 255 grams.
I chose that tire over the Top Slick because I heard about getting flats on the Top Slick.

You're only going 12 miles.......either would do the job, but think about which one you might want for later....
The Specialized tire is about $30 in some shops.
Don't forget the 1.0 to 1.15 tubes.

If you want to pay more, I've heard some good stuff about the Continental Grand Prix in the 26.0 size....but they cost even more.
