These frames couldn't be more alike. Any concensus on which is better? I see two weights for the Scott so I don't know which is lighter. The Yeti has the press-in BB, no-pivot stays, and what looks like a beefier main pivot.

Trick question IMO. The better bike is the one that's currently in production, that you can actually buy and ride right now.

I got a Spark 30, Couldnt be happier with it! The Yeti was my second choice. Both are wicked bikes in my eyes.....
I wouldn't mind having to make a choice between a Scott Spark and a Yeti ASCr Carbon. That is a no lose proposition in my mind.

Isn't the Yeti a longer travel bike? I thought it had 5 inches of travel front and back. If so, it might be the better choice if you will also be riding some nasty trails. Am I wrong on the travel?

Shock

The shock was a big decision maker for me. I wanted to get a spark when they first came out, but I do not like going without a platform shock, I just don't feel like the spark can eliminate the bobbing without over pressuring the shock.

Although I am a Yeti fan through and through, I have owned a scale, and currently have a CR1. I love Scott, but feel the ASR-C is a faster and more durable race bike.

It does have a little bob, but thats what the lockout on the handle bar is for! Click it and you go from cushy full to a very rigid hardtail....Thats what actually sold me on the Scott....But like they said , You cant go wrong with either bikes:)

Perhaps it's a better design when you don't have to use a lockout to gain efficiency in the suspension, as a platform damper and a solid design do while keeping some 'cusion'. In the firm pro-pedal position, the ASR (both versions) absolutely rocket up climbs AND maintain plenty of suspension travel to keep the rear end glued down solid.

They may look similar on paper - but my god they ride as though from opposite ends of the universe from each other.

The Spark is great too - just not quite as good an all-around race performer IMO. As others have noted, it's a win-win situation!

i prefer the scott over the yeti. the yeti was too active and plush. the scott felt more like a ht with some give.

the yeti didn't insipre any frame strength, but never had an issue either. just felt flimsy. the scott was more solid.
