Hi codypup, you stated that "I cannot understand the resistance to using a "bigger fork on a solo". I then provided you an insight into why such resistance exists.
Getting more specific, the Santa Cruz website says:
Fork Compatibility 120-140mm
With this specific info, I think the following:
- It's possible/likely that SC will not (or will be very reluctant to) honour it's warranty on a frame that's had a fork longer than 140 used on it
- if a fork greater than 140mm is used, the frame may, or may not, be able to consistently deal the higher forces generated 1. at the head tube area, and 2. generally by the higher speeds/bigger impacts that the bike will be capable ... The trails ridden, and the rider's weight & technique & speed will also factor into what the frame can deal with.
