Where is the fun in this?

I like the intention, but until there is an opportunity to try it, I am not sure how grippy this can get with the pins there were suppose to fit between the thread of the shoe bottom, now fully enlarged.

Why not get the cheap plastic pedals with the plastic pins that are already molded into it?

I am all for inventing something that can save the shins, but just like many other options before this, it tried to solve the problem, but took the original traction benefits of the pins out of the picture.

Someone once suggested putting the pins on the shoe bottom, then have the 5Ten rubber on the pedal. Love to explore that instead.

With all these said, they are all talks in theory without actually trying the product. Pink bike please test them out.

I have had way more shin bashes on pedals with less aggressive pedal pins than I ever had with pedals that have a bunch of sharp pins. When it does happen it can get deep and bloody but the occurrences are at least ten fold less.

Got to say I like the idea. I'd certainly try them out. Relying on the traditional half screwed in bolts for traction always looks a bit Heath Robinson to me, although they do work obviously.

If the rubber studs don't work just screw them into the bottom of your shoes instead?

There's a video out on YouTube of a dude who made rubber pedals and flat shoes with spikes, basically inverse of the current norm. Wish I could find it, I thought it was pretty damn smart.

If you can make the pedal strong enough so it doesn´t fall appart that does sound interesting. For the original post above: I could maybe see that working ok in the dry, sticky rubber pins on rubber soles. But in the wet? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
