After a few more rides I’m not using more than about 75-80mm of travel. I’m gonna try dropping the pressure to 130. I’ve tried measuring the sag many times and its not really increasing with the decrease in pressure from 140 to 130??? I am doing this solo but I think I’m doing it correctly. Kinda thought Im riding tomorrow morning so we will see if there is a noticeable change in travel.

I found a few threads stating the RS recommended PSI is way off to the high side. I would agree. I dropped the pressure down to 125 with no travel change - just did a XC ride with a little DH and used 70mm. Wednesday Im trying 120. I weight about 200-205. I am starting to think the previous owner installed token/s ??

Sorry if I am being stupid here, setting shocks is something i never did much or well. Just trying to sort this one out more than previous bikes/forks.

It's easy to check your token situation (and you should be doing that in any case if you're trying to tune your spring rate).

Here. You'll need a 24mm socket (if it's not chamferless make sure you press down hard while ratcheting or the socket will easily slip off the top cap), if you don't have a 24mm socket an adjustable wrench will do. You'll also need an 8mm allen key.

I havent got around to getting the 24mm socket yet, but I have lowered the PSI to 100lb and the ride is getting very nice. last ride I used 82mm of travel and it was mostly XC with only a couple larger water bars on the down hill.

I'm running my 2020 Reba RL 100mm on my 2012 Anthem at 80psi, rebound 5 from locked out and 3 tokens (about 20% sag).
I weigh about 180 lbs ready to ride.

Still a bit harsh on the arms @30kph in the rocky chatter, but quite nice everywhere else.

I finally got a hold of a 24MM chamferless socket. Hope to get in there and see whats what. but just lowering the pressure has made a BIG difference. I am about 200LB. Im guessing there are at least a couple tokens in there because I am still at 80% travel @100lb.

I just finished a brake job - new rotors and pads all around. I just wanna ride and not fuss with it right now especially since its getting very close to a good spot with the fork.

Now at 110psi, RB 8 from closed and 1 token.
Far more plush over single roots/rocks and about 80% travel through some small g-outs.
Need to test over chattery rocks and small jumps.

WOW! You are inspiring me to keep messing with this.... I just rode yesterday with 95lb (maybe..its hard to see that increment because the pump is marked in 20s) and there was almost no difference. I just dropped the PSI to 90 and that feels much softer in the garage. Ill ride it tomorrow and see how it feels. if the travel doesnt go past 80mm...most messin will be needed.

well, dropping the PSI to 90 made zero difference on the trail. Still only used max travel of ~75mm. Im gonna pull out one token.

So far on washboard surfaces I get a very rough ride. Can that be adjusted out or is it just something to live with on a 100mm fork?

Remove all the tokens and set it to about 25% sag and try it then.
It should be more plush and see if it can get to full travel.
Then add a token and see how much it affects the plushness and travel.

I removed one of the two tokens and played with pressures - settled on 120 for now. felt markedly more plush. should be able to get out and ride Monday or Tuesday baring unforeseen life issues.

I could quickly feel a big difference on pavement. I set the rebound up to 8 as well. I'll report back in a few days.

@NordieBoy thanks for the input!

Tested small rocks and jumps and I'm going to remove all the tokens for the next test.
Was still getting only about 85% travel on the biggest jumps I'm going to do.

I did more testing at the house... couldnt get more than 80% travel even after dropping the PSI. I pulled the last token out and have the psi set to ~110. I'll trail test this set up.
Seems like on a 100mm fork the tokens reduce the travel no matter what - at least how i ride which is mostly XC and small jumps like water bars and such.

120psi and no tokens and I could bottom it out dropping off the footpath onto the road and forcing the front down - ok.
105psi and 1 token (same sag - 25%) and I could do the same - damn.
Rode my test track with the 1 token setup and the jumps only used 84% travel - yay.
Tomorrow is going to be the same track with no tokens...

Hope I'll make my mind up soon. There's an XC race on Saturday at a track I haven't ridden and have no idea of the surface or conditions :)

yeah, I rode today with no tokens and bottomed out more than once... just put one token back in. next and hopefully the final setup will be 110PSI and one token. Sap was roughly 10% but its hard to get that exact because I'm doing it solo. Being I weigh 205, one token feels about right and I'll tweak the PSI. I couldn't get happy with it at any PSI with two tokens. Stay tuned.

OK! I think I have it pretty dialed in with one token and 110PSI. on todays ride I used 92% of the travel. Part of this ride was the same one I bottomed out on Wednesday. Ill monitor for bottoming out and add a smidge of pressure if needed. but I think I am good to go! Very happy to be done messin with it.

XC race today. Very muddy, only one little jump, no rocks, some roots, off camber muddy descents.
The fork felt brilliant, 180lbs, 105psi, RB 8 from closed, 1 token, used 85% travel. Left it open the whole race.
Felt like the first creek crossing (4 per lap) on the practice lap washed the lube out of the chain and replaced it with grinding paste though.
Last time here I used a 2011 Fox F29 fork with a Butcher front and Purgatory rear and this time was Purgatory's front and rear and the Reba more than made up for the faster rolling front.
