RM has a fantastic reputation. I'm currently trying to decide between an SC chameleon and a Flow. Good frame construction, nice geometry, etc... It might help if you posted more info (what kind of riding you do, your size, budget) about yourself. Tends to get better responses.

Ok a days gone by and no responses. I don't care if you own one or not but what do you think/know about a Rocky Mountain Flow?
This is what i think, and know about the flow/flow 24.
It is very sexy.

thanks for the help ferdinand...Ok, I'm 16 yrs old and I am just getting into freeriding. I've been riding a Rocky Mountain XC bike for the last 2 and a half yrs and I want to get a freeride hardtail so I can get better before I go out and buy a more expensive full suspension bike. I'm on a budget of about $600 give or take. From experience I know that Rm's tend to be pretty expensive but I was wondering how much a FR HT would be.

BTW...any other fairly cheap, but fairly high quality bike suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

I'd go to the LBS where you bought your xc RM. Tell them the situation that you're in and what you're trying to do. I can't think of any store that would sell a kid an RM and then not try to help him buy some more from them. You may find that they can't help you, but they'll appreciate that you went to them before mailorder.

Now, about the flow...

You'd be hard pressed to find a better all arounder in that price range, save for the SC chameleon (don't think either one is better imho). I hope you're not planning on getting into a complete flow for $600, but supergo has the flow frames on sale for $269 right now. Perhaps you could get a flow frame, change most of your components over and use the rest of the $ to get a new fork and round out your parts? I think you'd expect to be paying more than double your budget for a complete flow ($1400 or more)..

What are your considerations? Is weight a bigger deal or durability? What do you have to work with in the way of parts? You may want to consider a steel azonic or a soul cycles or the like. I have less experience with those, but know that they are cheaper (and the azonics enjoy a very good reputation).

-edit: Oh man, I completely forgot... In your price range also look good and hard at the haro hardtails... You may find that you can get a complete bike that will at least do the trick for just a little bit over your budget.

As I thought the RM is too expensive. I don't want to spend much money because I will prob buy a full suspension bike in a year or two. I would also like a complete bike because I dont want to go through the hassel of a build. I bought my xc bike in northern Vermont, I live in southeastern Mass, so they cant help me. What do you guys think of the specialized p.2?

its more of a dj bike but would work great.

and it wouldnt be hard to do a parts build if you are willing to sacrifice you xc bike for the cause. just buy a frame of your choice and a fork(from your lbs so they are on your good side) and swap all the components on to your other bike. if you want you can sell your frame for a bit of extra mula for extras. like shin/knee pads, unless frame shot.

but that would proly be the best way to go with your money/needs. if you still want your new HT to be trail ready you could get a haro 8.3 frame from them. the frames are a bit taller and work great for everything, think of it as an xc sized frame with FR HT build

Ok after doing some thinking I think I may buy a frame and then wait a few months and make it a winter build project. The Flow for $2 hundred something on supergo sounds tempting. I'm on the bad side of the lbs already so I dont care about pissing that lazy bastard off anyway.
