I've been riding a Canyon Spectral (which is too big for me), and have been waiting for my new Ripmo to arrive for a month. Incidentally the wait was for the wheels rather than the frame! Spent all day yesterday building it up! AXS is awesome!

Size: Medium, Blue
Fork: Fox Float 36 Grip2 Factory Series 160mm
Shock: DPX2 Factory
Drivetrain: SRAM X01 Eagle AXS
Brakes: SRAM G2 RSC
Cockpit: Oneup handlebar, i9 35mm Stem, Chris King Headset
Seat: 170mm AXS Reverb, WTB Volt Ti
Wheels: Ibis S35, i9 Hydra hubs, i9 Aluminum spokes
Tires: Maxxis DHF, Aggressor 29" x 2.5"
Pedals: Oneup Aluminum Flats

Weight: ?? (Hoping to be ~29lbs)

Hi guys, i want to change out my stem and bars and am wondering what people are running. I like the look of the Burgtec stuff and I've had nice Raceface cockpits in the past. I want to keep it black and I think i'll got 40mm for stem and 30mm for rise. I like the look of the one up bars, has anyone got any feedback on them?

After a year of owning the bike, upgrades have finally been completed. Couldn't be any happier.

Slack Sets

Has anyone slackened the Ripmos head angle through using a slackset headset by a degree??

I'm not sure if "slack set" is a brand or generic term, but I'm assuming generic.

There are a couple other threads on the subject. I started at -1.5 and am now at -1.0. I think quite a few owners, me included, prefer -1.0. I'd say half the Ripmos I see on trails have an adjusted headset.

roughly what do shops charge to install an angle set? already have the part.

a decent headset press would be at least $60-70. i don't want to try and mickey mouse one with parts from a hardware store
i'm going to say something fairly controversial. the carbon ripmo headtube isn't round enough to use a headset press*. you have to ease the cups in with a rubber mallet after dressing the surfaces with 1200 grit. and i mean ease. very carefully.

*press is fine after the cups are 80 percent of the way in. at this point though, you can just use a BB press or the hardware washer and threaded rod trick.

Damn! A lot of nice builds in this thread.

Mine is originally a GX build.

Upgraded so far:

- Rear S35 alloy wheels w/ Onyx Vesper hub
- Magura MT7 Pro with 180mm rotors
- Fox Transfer post
- X01 cassette w/ XX1 rainbow chain (for bling)
- Replaced the DHF Minion with Assegai EXO MaxTerra

Waiting to be installed are OneUp 20mm rise 35mm bar with Deity 50mm stem.

I just paid off my student loans and am planning my Ripmo build. I currently ride a Specialized Camber. I’m leaning towards a black GX based build by Fanatik Bike or Wrench Science. But honestly I hate the olive green, enough I’m considering the tangerine sky. I know there are Fox decals for the fork, but are there any options to cover up the olive Ibis sticker on the frame?

I love the green. But there are companies that will make you stickers to cover the green. Just look around Instagram.

As for the GX, I'd strongly recommend an SLX build over GX. Mine is so damn finaky I'm ready to throw it out the back door. It's awful. I don't know how anyone rides SRAM over Shimano. I'll never buy a SRAM drive train again. It's loud, shifts like garbage, and is a pain to adjust.

Thanks for your input. I haven't seen the ripmo in person yet. But after all the great reviews I know its what I want. I'll get used to whatever it is I ride. I know the bike has more potential than I can reciprocate. The nearest Ibis dealer is 3 hours away from me so I am going to try to go see demo one in Portland or Bellingham after the new year.

Good to know about the blue paint. I will do some more research on Shimano vs SRAM drivetrains and brakes.

For anyone wanting to change colors, I cant recommend www.speedydecal.com enough.

They can pretty much do whatever you ask them to and its super high quality. I will probably have them do something for my Ripmo once I get it. They have done a ton of one-off stuff for my other bikes and my Wife's. They even turned around teh custom request (free and fast) for my wife's custom fork decal. Its all matte black with Gold outline instead of filled gold numbering to match her wheels and her Ltd Ed Sworks frame.

Found a crack on the downside of the toptupe, just above the X2.. And I really dont think it happend in a crash. I have not crashed in a long time and I´m always observant when Im washing the bike after every ride. So, maybe additional forces goes through that area when using the angle set. I dunno, I will contact Ibis asap
