Logging a 4:21 time is still pretty impressive for someone who rarely rides Repack and hasn't ridden it in over a year.

How many times did Fisher ride Repack before he logged that 4:22 time? My guess would be dozens upon dozens. Also, it's not like Repack is a super gnar course where bike handling completely outweighs cardio- pedaling can play a big factor in logging a faster time.

Repack DH Historical. Heard Fisher's record finally fell today...

I don't think it did.

My understanding is that the route has changed some over the years. I also think the actual start is further up that what 'Repack DH Historical' is showing on Strava.

Edit: Ya, here we go:

The 'Repack Real Historic rock to rock' is more accurate.

Repack Real Historic - Rock to Rock

Ive always had my doubts about the accuracy of the Repack "record". I've seen the old footage including that of Fisher, but looking at their speed into and out of some of the turns only reaffirms my doubts. Hitting one of those water bar booters at 30-35mph on a rigid Klunker, show me please.

The Repack Real Historic Rock to Rock segment is not accurate. It ends after the creek crossing. The Real Historic Repack should end before the first creek crossing, at the big rock where the trail finally flattens. This segment is the most accurate one (it's been edited to reflect the info in this thread):

Solid update! The starting point was the big problem there, good to see it fixed.

Start was the rock at the junction. First 200 yards are uphill. A lot of people seem to think it started at the highest point.

Finish was the rock just past the bridge. These markers were chosen because they were unlikely to move. No one had any criticism of the timing system, which was as accurate as anyone could want under the conditions. Timing was electronic and in 100ths of a second.

The best times were accomplished when there were a lot of races and everybody got a lot of practice. If you look at the collected results, riders could ride very consistently within five or six seconds of their best times. The road changes from year to year and even season to season, and the water bars were not there then.

One big difference now is the hard right curve below Yellow Face. BITD it would get ripples from hard braking on rigid forks, but full suspension now keeps the ripples from building up.

Repack rider, what you say about the rock after the bridge confuses me. Both on the original map and on the footage from Klunkerz, it's the rock before the bridge. In fact, I don't even see a rock after the bridge.

You pass a wooden bridge on your right, which was not there BITD. There is a big rock sticking out of the ground, about three feet high. Here I am standing on it and handing Gary Fisher a prize.
