$135 will seem like a terrible deal when the pedal thread inserts start rattling. Good warranty coverage but I wouldn’t sign up for another eoisode of monitor-the-crankset.
Yeah I'm sure most people are fine with them, but I've heard enough negative feedback that the only non Shimano/Sram cranks I'd consider are the much pricier brands.

But Shimano is okay, despite this? https://bike.shimano.com/en-US/info...-services/corrective-actions/11-speed-hollowtech-ii-crankset-recall-notice.html

I mean, I don't care, I'm ambivalent towards Race Face, but all manufacturers have issues, and the activity is brutal. We all want lightweight stuff, and we pound the :poop: out of it. I've had issues with both SRAM and Shimano, and I gotta say, having a $400 X01 cassette become a paperweight due to the failure of a stupid 0.65mm retaining clip when I was removing it from a cracked wheel was pretty darn frustrating given that the non-SRAM wheel supplier warrantied the wheel (both were purchased at same time for same build). So obviously YMMV, but I'm glad there are options which keep the prices from getting even more out of control.

Race face makes great metal cranks. They dont screw this up IME. Their CF cranks are not near the level of SRAM ones IME. They look better, but SRAM got it right out of the gate. I did snap a SRAM one, but thats after years of DH, enduro races, slamming them on rocks, etc. My RF by comparison failed on a fatbike used in snow (but I had others fail later).

That said, the newer generation of RF carbon cranks are supposed to address this…but Id want them for free before Id take the chance again.

Race face changed the insert design for a reason. it's not like all of these are going to fail though. I've owned three pairs of sixc with zero issues. My current pair needs to be retired because they are so gouged up from 4 years of use. No issues with the inserts though. I know there's no shortage of people who have experienced insert issues with every racefaec model including sixc, but not me.
