I just got it back from my stripper (ooh, this is porn). It looks good, I can't see any stress cracks or problem areas :thumbsup: . The filleting has some tiny "air bubble" holes that I'd like to fill, anyone have any ideas how? It's gotta be a metal based filler as I'm going to powdercoat it Gloss Metallic Black. Sorry for the lousy pics, I'll do better later.

And a question...are filleted frames tigged first and then filled or is the filleting holding the whole thing together? I guess I'm wondering if filleting is kind of like soldering?

I have used Alvin Products High Temp Lab Metal with great results.

looks neat. I like the canted rear dropouts like Ritchey did. Those little air pockets are normal. I think theyre from impurities in the brass if I recall. You can fill them in with a touch of bondo if youre gonna use wet paint or maybe some solder if youre gonna PC.


and yes, the brass alone holds it together. no TIG underneath.

Bondo, yes Bondo! Just like the big name custom builders do it.

Actually if your using a good filler primer or sandable epoxy primer they'll probably fill in.

Actually those fillets aren't bad at all. I wouldn't want to clear coat it, but under paint, they'll look fine and the size and radius are good.

Yeah, thats exactly what Ive seen used actually for fb frames.

I'm certainly not an expert but I thought they looked pretty good too. I like the proportions of the fillets relative to the tubing size.:thumbsup:

He's done 4 other frames for me using the same procedure and they came out great.

Pretty sure thats just for paint. I've seen it being used at D&D which is wet paint.
