So, this is not exactly bike specific, but figured somebody could help educate me.
We currently have a pop-rivet gun - it is okay, does what it has needed to, but I want to be able to install riv-nuts. Are the tools at all interchangeable with different "bits/inserts"? Or am I better off buying a riv-nut tool kit with different inserts for SAE and Metric applications?

(What I want to install is a SAE riv-nut that I already have on hand, but I primarily would use metric riv-nuts in the future. Thanks)

AFAIK, unless you own a Marson, you cannot acquire parts to change the head/mandrel from any other manufacturer.

The good news is that the Amazon/Ali/ebay special kits are good enough for 1-2 a week use.

The mandrels screw into the head (which replaces the 'nail puller' insert on a normal rivet gun), and you screw the appropriate rivet nut on them. Common SAE/Metric sizes are available from all manufacturers...but again, the Marson ones come at a huge premium.
