well it "works" but it doesn't really "work":) sucks to not really have other options as i didnt want to buy another fox shock but i guess the dvo goes up for sale now.

I'm still a little confused how Krob and I could have found the same bikes to feel almost the opposite. This could have been setup, or it could have been an overused and undermaintained demo bike (I've had some pretty crappy impressions of bikes from demo bikes including a bike with a blown fork damper).
I've ridden a for a few years, like 25 or so, and I set up two new FS bikes this year, but it takes me a good 2 weeks to dial in the suspension on a bike, including finding the right pressure/preload, number of spacers, tuning compression and rebound adjustments, and so on. Someone on Ridemonkey basically said the same exact thing, about 2 weeks, so there seems to be a little commonality to this. This is usually riding at least every other day during the week and on both days on the weekends, making sure to ride in a wide variety of trail conditions and terrain, to find a good tune.

This is why even if you go "demo" a bike, it ain't necessarily worth a lot, in fact, the suspension and bump absorption are probably two of the most easily changed characteristics on a frame that doesn't have a screwy leverage rate or anything, either by going to a different shock (hit and miss though, sometimes simply subbing one crappy OEM tune for another), or by way of custom suspension tuning or shocks, which if the primary concern is suspension action, is well worth it. But to change chainstay length, frame sizes, etc., nope, that ain't happening.

All my close rideing buddies I know myself concluded, five total are still running the X2 with no issues two are shop mechanics and Fox authorized service center techs, both said run it just check cannister for tightness. Fox continueing procastination on a fix is more disturbing.

I'm still running the x2 on my sb. No problems and just over 300 miles on it.

Fox has their hands tied until the CPSC approves the solution they've offered. It's frustrating but they can't move forward until approval....

Agreed, I actually still have stock Evol but chose to continue running X2, but some may not feel as so and if have no backup they are left stranded, Fox could have just replaced all suspected shocks. So far no one I know has had any issues and my mechanic friend even raced two DH series on his Mach 6 with X2 and did very well, other then keeping it serviced, impressive in itself how well the Mach 6 sucked up all the abuse with aplomb.

For giggles has anyone tried running a 29er in the rear and the 27.5+ in the front with the spacer installed. I'm pretty intreagued by this setup as it would raise BB height, and steepen the head angle slightly for climbing while keeping that great fat front tire. Just a thought

I will try it as soon as I have a 27.5+ wheelset. Right now all I have is 29er set.

I do have both wheelsets and have absolutely no interest in attempting it,I like slack .Worried about pedal strikes bump up front travel to 160mm,been running 27.5+ nicely without 17mm cup and very few pedal strikes.

Crank Info Needed Please

Hi All,

I have a conundrum. I am buying a SB frame and of course the Distributor is telling me that they are not meant to be sold as a frame and it is virtually impossible to find the correct parts for it. I already have great high end parts and don't want to spend the cash(which I don't have) on a complete bike. I've sourced everything except that I've gotten conflicting info from multiple sources on the crank/spindle sizing.

Does anyone have any personal experience that they can lend so that I get the correct Crank with the correct spindle length?

Thanks All.

Hi, I Will do the same thing. You can use normal crank (PF 92), for the spindle, If you want less of 30 tooth all Will work's but you have to check the chainline. If you want more tooth, you Will probably purchase Ă  spindle with 0 offset.
I Will order Ă  28 tooth, and with the Hubs of my wheels (Acros), a boost (3mm offset ) would work well and give a good chainline ; )

One question, in the blue, the other color is red or pink ? ?? Thank's

Just buy a Raceface Cinch Turbine crankset, reasonably priced and available now for SB.Why mess around with a make doo when you can have more chainring size choice.

I have already a RF next sl on my Mach 6 with 28 chainring.
I would put it on the SB, and flip the chainring if necessary or buy a boost.
I m interesting by purchasing an absolut black oval in 28 too ;)

Your distributor is a little misguided...lots of options from race face you can check out their spec sheet online for chainline and q factor.

Mine came with the stock race face wide spindle Affect SL and the chain ring was not flipped. It was inset 3mm. It fit a 32 round no problem. If you flipped it,it would fit a 34 easily, maybe bigger. Even a zero offset ring would fit a 34 or 32 oval.

I put a shimano xt 8000 boost crank on it and max size is a 32 round. Oval 32 will not work asit will hit chainstay. XTR cranks would not work at all with a 168 Q factor.

You will need the wider spindle for the older next sl crank. Stock spindle will not work unless you get the new wider one.

Thanks 's for all. I made Ă  mistake in my post...with my bad english...spindle and chainring are different things...sorry.
To be clear, trying to be clear...lol, I have order a SB frame kit. He Will come with fork and crank (aeffect sl), I was thinking to switch the crank with the next sl who are on my Mach6.
But if it is not possible, I will keep the aeffect , it would be more easy and it is not a big problem ; )
