Coming May 31st, according to Pivot website. Any ideas what it is?

My old Titus Switchblade was one of my favorite bikes ever.

Hi everyone, got a less than serious question for y'all. I absolutely love the way my blue SB looks. Wish I could find a kit that went really nicely with the bike's paint scheme (or colorway as the cool kids say). Has anyone found a bike kit that works with the bike's colors? It's such an unusual shade of blue. I wish Pivot had their own kits ala Yeti for nerds like me.

So when Pivot drops this Mach 6 29er (soon maybe?) l wonder if they will phase out the switchblade?

Anyone have an idea? l've been intrigued by some other 29ers recently (Wreckoning, Ripmo, Rallon) l think this bike would be a good alternative
I think there's room to keep the SB as the mid travel bike. If they add a long travel 29er, hopefully it will be 150-160 rear travel with 160-170 up front, and a little slacker HA. More in the realm of the M6 or FB. I see the SB as the 5.5 equivalent in the 29er category.

I have a brand new ethirteen trs 30.9 x 170mm dropper, mounted and ridden around my house, sold my SB with another dropper on it. Frame was a medium and I'm 5'11" and perfect with plenty more inset for a taller rider. You know many of us border line height riders went with medium frames. 210.00 shipped to states, comes complete with new cable.

Frankenblade Redux

Been running 27.5+ for the past year, mostly Dirt Wizards. Nice and heavy rig with stock plus wheelset, ACS3-converted 36 and an X2.

This month I swapped in a 29er carbon wheelset and zero-stack lower cup. Makes climbs feel (relatively) effortless and has superior rollover.

Today I tested a Hodag 27.5x3.8 front (zero-stack cup) and Dirt Wizard 27.5x3.0 rear. Ridiculously fun, handled technical climbs well, great rollover and tons of grip on loose descents. Might try a 29+ front next. Had previously tested 29+ front with the 17mm cup and it felt wonky.

Wheel option for EU Switchbladers: I've been in contact with Wheelproject and gotten them to put a 12/157 option in their builder. You get a DT 240 or 350 hub for 150 but with conversion caps to make it 157. This is how I got my 350 built by a local guy and it is a whole lot of an upgrade compared to the Sunringle rear although not with the wider flanges of the custom DT and the I9 real Superboost+ hubs etc. You can also get the 36 ratchet upgrade right away.

Just bought the acs-3 kit for my 36. Will throw it in this weekend and provide some feedback. Been running the MRP ramp control kit for a while now...and while it works great to improve the small bump sensativity when set perfectly, you almost have to adjust both positive and negative pressures every ride. I think the small volume in the negative chamber is really susceptible to elevation and temperature changes. I do a lot of riding with 4,000 ft elevation changes so may not be a big deal for most. Plus it’s 60 degrees in Denver one day and can be 90 the next.

So to get this clear , riders don’t like the SB in the 27.5 plus mode? I’m asking because I run my SB with 29ers stock DT hubs and 2.35 HR II. With the Fox 36 set at 160mm using the 17mm cup spacer.
I’m going to build and I9 wheelset but can’t decide on the plus size or building it in the 29 er and using 29x2.6 tires. I like to be able to play around and get better on jumps, I also live in FL. I just need a little input to decide... I rode the plus sizes for an hour liked it but not enough time to get the feel. Also I can not get my hands on a plus size SB to try

Interesting that you used 17mm space with 160mm fork and 29 wheelset in Florida, I never used the 17mm spacer with 160mm travel fork for both 29 an 27.5 with very little issues on pedal strikes here in rocky knar east coast Pa. Do a 27.5 plus wheelset for sure gives the SB another element of playful fun. I raced Enduros on the 27.5 plus on certain courses that were technical and rooty.

ACS3 on Switchblade

Installed the push ACS3 coil conversion yesterday and got a ride today on my backyard trails, which are likely some of the toughest trails to find a good suspension balance given the loose and embedded rocks on just about every section. It's brutal on the hands due to the relentless rocks and one section is like roller skating on baby heads down the side of a mountain.

Fork set-up at 160mm, with the cup installed. I'm about 200 geared up and went with the green spring, no spacers, 25 psi in the air bumpstop. I was shooting for small bump compliance with good mid stoke support for aggressive riding. Sag came out to just about 20% with 30% for the rear.

So far, I'm fairly impressed with the ride. It's an absolute improvement over the '17 stock 36 FIT4. I do think I may have been able to achieve a little better bump sensitivity with the MRP set-up but it had poor mid stroke support and required me to set pressures almost every ride. I had minimal hand fatigue at the bottom of the dh run and it tracked the terrain well. On the loose down, I had minimum skating and felt like I could push it pretty hard. There are only a few jumps and basically one 2' drop to flat but I normally blow through all my travel on this run with the MRP set-up. I had about an inch left with the ACS.

Only one ride, but it just felt right...they way a suspension fork should. Dead silent, supportive but soaked up what I was throwing at it. Pretty happy with the conversion on day 2. If you've got the new Evolve set-up with grip2 damper on your Fox, I might not make the switch as that one feels great as well, but this is a great upgrade for the '15-'17 Fox Float 36's. Brings me back to the Marz Z1 Bomber days but it a stiffer, lighter more capable package.

Awesome to hear stupordave! I’m about 185ish in the summer time and have been really leaning towards this acs3 for my 2016 36. I have been playing around with every pressure and setting possible for a while now, and while I dont think its bad by any means I just really expected more. Biggest issue is small bump compliance on high speed wash and roots, just feels way more harsh than I had imagined. I have 1 orange and 1 blue volume reducer in with 60 psi using almost all the travel and i’m not hucking 4ft drops. Really contemplating the acs3 and fox dpx2

If you have 2017 it's worth opening the fork and setting it to 160mm. Larger negative air volume and check if there's too much grease in negative chamber.
Don't use spacers or use just one and increase pressure. The fork feels better with more pressure and 15-20% sag. I'd say use 80PSI and no spacers if you're not hucking to flat.

So I took the switchblade into a shop near me that is a pivot dealer and talked to the owner/mechanic. He said he would have to call fox and get back to me about changing the travel from 150 to 160 and mentioned I would probably have to buy a new airshaft in order to do it? Does this sound right? I was under the impression you just pull it out and adjust the current parts. It is a 2017 model fox 36. Also for those of u set at 160 do u reccomend running the 17 cup or the 0? I run the 17 currently with the 29ers and really like it. Not sure if adding 10mm of travel would make the front end too light. Really curious what the head angle would be at too?

#2,959 ·
Your dealer is incompetent and/or mistaken. As noted in earlier reply, going from 150mm to 160mm on a 2017 36 requires the removal of a spacer. You don't need a new air shaft.
Doing so will slacken you head angle by about 0.4 degrees. Removing the 17mm cup and adding back 8mm via your now 160mm fork (10mm of travel minus 2mm of sag) will effectively reduce your stack by 9mm = steepening your head angle by ~ 0.4deg.

Switchblade X2 owners, what are your settings?

I'm playing around with it and prefer 7-8 hsc/lsc with 12-15 hsr/lsr from fully open with stock volume reducers (three?). PSI is around 235.

I'm also waiting on Vorsprung Luftkappe for my Fox 36 2017.

I'm generally happy with the suspension but compared to my old Mach 429T the bike is not as fast and doesn't spring when I pedal vigorously. It feels muted and bit "dead" albeit stable and relatively smooth. Tires could be the culprit as I'm running 2.6 Nobby Nics that weigh almost a kilo each although last year when I was riding my 429T I used the same but older non addix model (that's 100gr lighter) and the bike felt more alive.

What do you weigh when running that setup?
