Coming May 31st, according to Pivot website. Any ideas what it is?

My old Titus Switchblade was one of my favorite bikes ever.

I just put some Nox Composite Kitsuma/I9 27.5+ wheels with Sram rotors and a Sram 11-speed cassette (vs. the XT stock cassette) on my SB and lost over a pound of weight over the stock set-up. Even with the Maxxis Rekon tires front and back. Great traction, especially climbing, for wet/slick rocks and roots that we get a lot of this time of year. Didn't notice a loss of spin-up speed, actually felt like they spun up to speed faster. Just one ride so far but I think I might like it better for fall/winter/spring when damp leaves and roots abound. Also barely noticed (if at all) the .75* slacker head angle with the 17mm cup installed. Bonus is that the bike's now at 27#.

Here is a video I put together of me and our local group of riders near Sedona, AZ riding dead horse ranch. I'm on my switchblade in 29er flavor bombing down all this. May not look like much in the video but it's fairly chunky with some good 3-4ft drops through out. We kept a pretty fast pace and it was my first time riding this trail so I had no clue what was ahead. This bike still amazes me everytime I ride it. It handled this trail like a champ.

29 versus 27.5+

Does anybody have enough time on the Switchblade in both 29 and 27.5+ to have an opinion if having both wheel sets is worth the investment. I've been riding the 27.5+ bike for a couple of months and love it. However in some situations I kinda miss the better acceleration and poppiness of my Following. Don't get me wrong, I think the 27.5+ SB is better overall than the Following, but from what I have gathered from others the 29er version of the SB is like the Following on steroids. I guess I'm just greedy and want it all. If the difference in the two set-ups is great enough then I think having the option for both would make SB the second greatest love of my life.

I've got SOME time on both. Started with the stock Reynolds 29" carbon wheels and picked up a pair of Nox Kitsumas that are 27.5" with a 35mm ID. Put some Rekon 27.5+ tires on them and lost about a pound of weight from the Reynolds set. Those are like boat anchors. So it's not really apples to apples, but I like it better. Better grip, better acceleration, just plain more fun. Had the bike sold, then backed out on, now I'm glad I kept it as I'm enjoying it much more with the plus wheels. I think the weight is the biggest complaint of the plus wheels, but the Nox wheels are light and superb. Have several sets of Nox wheels on different bikes, even on my Colnago C60 road bike.

I've been on the 27.5+ reynolds (with 45t one-up) since Day 1. Loaned a 29er (with 50t one-up) reynolds for 2 rides. It didn't feel lighter; acceleration and ability to hold speed wasn't as fantastic as what many 29er guys have said. 27.5+ has more climbing traction and grip of coz. 29er gets more and longer air time than the plus though.

Weighed the bike with both wheelsets separately on a bath scale, and true enough the 29er setup was about 300grams heavier than the plus.

* Other than the different size biggest cog on the casette, all other components were exactly the same. Also note that, I'm on the 3.0 Nobby Nic on the front and 2.8 on the rear now, which are obviously heavier than the stock Rekons.

First ride with the Blade 😊
It was only a little lap to test the bike and the adjustments ; )
I feel the bike stable at high speed but he stay easy to handle and fun in turns.
It seem's a demonic toy 😈
I look forward testing it in mountain ! But it is winter...and even if there is not a lot snow for the moment, it's cold !
I want to see how it handle in more demanding and steep terrain 😉
