Have you ridden the Ripmo? I owned the SB for a year and now have the Ripmo. I think they are far more similar than the FB 29 which I have limited time on.
HoJo... would you say the Ripmo is more poppy/jumpy than the SB? I've been on an SB for a year and am probably moving to a Ripmo or Devinci Troy (which I found to be maybe more poppy than Ripmo, but not quite as capable in the east coast tech). Only had a couple hrs on each.

Leaning toward Devinci. DW-link is too glued to the ground for my riding pref/skill set (or lack of)...

How do you like the new rims?
Well I ended up cracking my rear triangle doing stupid **** in the parking lot. Fell over clipped in and snapped the seat stay on a curb. Pivot offered me a crash replacement for $550, but my LBS asked them to look for a used triangle in the boneyard. They found one and asked me to send the frame in to install it so they could make sure everything lined up correctly. The only thing I paid for was shipping and some of the bearings that they replaced. 75 for shipping both ways and 24 for the bearings. Overall LBS saved me $450! Thank you Adventures Edge!

Yesterday I got some good rides in on the wheels. They definitely feel better. Only have 4 rides on them. I can feel the acceleration when I pedal. They seem to spin up faster. Was able to PR some downhill runs, but I'm not sure if my balls grew or the wheels helped. I also changed my handlebars from the stock 740 Pivot bars to the Deity 787mm DC31 Mohawk handlebar, so that might have something to do with it. I feel like the bike is more confidence inspiring with these upgrades.

Anyone put a Works Components angle reducing headset in a Switchblade?

I'm also looking to get angle reducing headset and seems like Superstar is best value but unfortunately they've been out of stock for a while now, aparently they'll start making them again by the end of the year. Works is more expensive and they charge shipping while Superstar has free shipping to Europe and they've got promotions like 20-30% off most of the time so it comes out about half the price of Works...

Anyhow, they only have 2°, so I wonder if it's too much and I wonder what's the difference between various head tube lenghts. Would fitting a headset intended for shorter or longer head tube be possible and would it alter the angle or would it be impossible to fit?

If the cups are offset, going they'd have to be more offset on shorter head tubes, right? So using cups made for longer head tube would actually cause 2° angelset to be less than that, right?

Awesome

I hear this fork is a game changer. Too bad people won't get over on the looks of it.
The people making it think it's awesome. Mikesee got to try one and it was not that great, but they think there was a problem with the damper in the test fork so the jury is still out.

Assuming the fork actually does something amazing compared to the current crop of telescoping forks, is priced competitively and is as robust I'd be happy to buy one. That's a lot of "if's" to confirm though so I'm gonna wait and see what happens. At the moment I can get ~2.5 quality forks for the price they are asking so I'm not gonna to be a beta tester.

Has anybody tried running 170mm Next SL cranks with the 134 spindle on a Switchblade? Will the 170mm arms clear the rear triangle or will I still need a 143 spindle?

I just wanted to contribute to this thread and sing the praises of the Switchblade. I was looking for my n+1 bike that would fill the duties of trail bike to enduro and I'm so glad I demoed the SB. My pedally bike is a Canfield EPO which is rad, but I was looking for something to progress my skills on bigger terrain with. I demoed the Trance 29, 19 Stumpy, Fuel EX, Trek Slash and GG Smash. All had their merits, but not until the SB did I find a poppy bike with snappy short chainstays that felt as well at home on a rough enduro route as my local trails. The bike feels much deeper than the 135mm travel suggests.

I picked up a Switchblade Aluminum 29 from Backcounty.com for 10% off and another 12% off from Active Junky on Cyber Monday bringing the total to $3100. I'm 5'9 on a size L and with the 17mm cup, 40mm stem (not in the pic) and seat slammed forward to help steepen the seat angle which makes the fit perfect. I traded the SLX calipers for Zee's from my EPO and I'm super happy with the build spec for the price. A drivetrain and wheel upgrade will be in the distant future. Sure, it weighs 33lbs with Minions but I'm gonna have so much fun going downhill on it and with the DW link I don't have to mess with a stupid climb switch anytime the trail goes uphill. I've got the Canfield to race to the top of the hill with and still have a hoot on the way down. I'm so excited to grow with this bike!

Congratulations! That's a great deal. My Switchblade carbon in XL with the Race XT build weighs 32#'s, so 33#'s isn't bad for the aluminum version.

Thanks. The only bummer is the 3 year alloy warranty vs 10 year for carbon. It looks burly and the welds look great so I'm not too worried. The aluminum should be better for impact resistance in crashes anyways.

I'm curious what updates Pivot will have for the SB in the coming year or two. The only things I would want would be ~ 20mm longer reach, 2* steeper seat tube, and the same 66.5 head angle as the current model with the headset cup. Then I'd be on a size M like my height would suggest. The current model is perfect for me though as I set it up.

I bought mine three days before the 10 year warranty was announced.

I'm curious if anyone is using the bottle mount on the bottom of the downtube for storage of tube, tools, pump, etc? Since the mount is so close to the bottom bracket I was looking at the Wolf Tooth B-Rad system to move mount further forward so it isn't as exposed then mounting the Wolf Tooth roll top bag down there. https://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/collections/b-rad-products

Are there any other good options people have found?

I use a small Silca boa bag under the saddle and a Backcountry Research Race strap on the down tube.

Both products have exceeded my expectations.
