I was speaking in general(all brands)starting to show up.
I had a chat with Pivot and was advised they don't do model years?
A 2017 is still last years frame regardless to component updates.
Oh gotcha. I had known as well that Pivot doesn't have model years like some of the larger brands. I paid in full for an XL Switchblade (I was fine with either color) almost three weeks ago, but my dealer let me know that XL Switchblades are out of stock until sometime in July. So I'm hoping that when they're back in stock, some of the newly-released components will be available in some of the builds.

Nice, I got tired of waiting for a sale and ordered a raw race 29 in medium today,

I have a Hope Pro 4 hub and the XO 157mm on SB,both great hubs and would not put one above the other.Th XO engagement feels a tad quicker. The whole idea of 157mm super boost is unprecedented rear stiffness, why mess around with a narrower flange?
Pro 4 DH Rear Hub | Hope Tech | Made in Barnoldswick, England

Not sure if this is some newer version but page mentions wider flange a couple times. Also not sure if it's close to the width of super boost plus or the sram hub mentioned in thread.

Hi, I am interested in the switchblade. But I'm not sure, which size I should choose..
I'm 1,78m - medium or large?
I already ride a m firebird and feel comfortable.

Also with the short testride I can't decide...
Thanks
If you are 5ft 8 then I would go with a medium.

I'm 1,72m and ride a Medium Switchblade with a 50mm stem and a 5" dropper (not fully inserted). Fits comfortably. :)

I ordered the 29er wheelset through my dealer last week. Since I have the Dtswiss 27.5+ wheelset I could only order the Dtswiss 29er wheelset. I thought it was a pretty good deal for $1050-15% store discount. Tires(DHF 2.5WT Exo and DHR II 2.4WT Exo), rotors(180mm), and cassette(11-46) are included. The 27.5+ came with a 160mm rotor in the rear, so I had to buy an adapter for caliper. I want to get more wear out of my drivetrain, so I switched the cassette from the 27.5+ to the new 29er. A nice bonus with DTswiss is that you can just pop off the cassette for servicing. When that drive train wears out, I can use the new cassette and only have to buy a chain and chainring.

27.5+
Rear wheel 160mm rotor DHRII 2.8 Exo 2816g
Front wheel 180mm rotor DHF 2.8 Exo 3CTerra 2198g

29er
Rear wheel 180mm rotor DHRII 2.4WT Exo 2597g
Front wheel 180mm rotor DHF 2.5WT Exo 2100

Sealant included.
316g difference.

The 29er wheelset feels great so far. Tooling around the house, it feels more nimble and light. I'm excited to get it out on the trail for the the 4th!

Frankenblade

It's Alive! Frankenblade the perfect bike trail/all mountain bike. Custom cassette with 50-45-42-37 keeps the cadence nice and smooth and energy conserving for those long and technical climbs to the top. Ground-clawing traction of 27.5+ up front and the rolling speed, momentum conserving of a 29er out back ensures a good pace and flow on the way back down. Suspension Shockwiz tuned for playful. Sweet...

Perfect? The 38% jump from your 13T to 18T is far from perfect. Or is that a 46% jump from 13T to 19T?
Either way, I'm sure that 7% jump from 42T to 45T makes all the difference in your climbing.

First of all, congrats on your Switchblade. Pay no heed to nay-sayers like the comments above this. No matter how rad or weird your bike is, there always seems to be some judgmental tool ready to sh*t on someone's parade. Such is the anonymity of the internet. Oh well.

Anyway, I was wondering when someone was gonna combine the wheel sizes and make a Franken-blade. I'm sure your bike is perfect for you and that's all that really matters. Have you had a chance to put it through its paces uphill and downhill in the current franken-form? Is it performing the way you hoped?

I'm paraphrasing some, but there was employee training at Intel in the 90's, where they conditioned people to hear (and say) "your idea is stupid" and distinguish that from "you are stupid" (which people were taught not to say). The goal was to encourage critical discussion while minimizing emotional conflict.

I contend that introducing a 40% gear step into a cassette is a stupid idea.

Also, its worth noting that I made mathematical observations, free of any personal comments. You, on the other hand, immediately got personal and called me a "judgemental tool" (your mis-spelling, not mine). So who is being judgmental? Its certainly apparent who is being hypocritical.

Maybe if you wouldn't have used sarcasm (I'm sure that 7% jump from 42T to 45T makes all the difference in your climbing.), you wouldn't have come off sounding like your comment was meant to be personal. You imply wanting to encourage critical discussion while minimizing emotional conflict, and then you immediately use sarcasm. Your observations were not simply mathematical and free of any personal comments. Sarcasm is the use of irony to mock or convey contempt. People are going to tend to take that personally.
