Switchblade with I9 wheels!

SOOOO stoked about my Switchblade with new Industry Nine 29er wheels with dark green spokes and turquoise hubs! They now have the system wheels with Super Boost Plus hubs too! I'm super boost stoked about that!!! Got some beefy Maxxis 29x2.5 Minion DHF trail rippers on there too! So f*ing dialed! Included a nice muddy picture after its maiden voyage on the stock 27.5+ wheels. Those 27.5x2.8 Rekons are no joke either. Grip for dayz!

Very nice! I love my i9 wheels as well. I have a set of the new i9 backcountry 360 27.5+ wheels in my 2017 pivot les and they are awesome! Light and strong and look sexy. I kind of wish the switchblade had 148 instead of 157 for rear hub so I could toss my i9 wheels in the switchblade. Instead I had to buy 27.5+ and 29er wheels for both my les and switchblade. Lots of wheels laying around hah. Love the look of yours. It fits the bike great and looks awesome.

Thanks! I really dig how they look. It's been raining for a week and a half since I got them, so I haven't been able to ride them yet. This always happens when I get something new!

I was gonna get the back country rims but got talked out of it. Wish I had stuck to my guns and got them anyway. The Blade can totally handle them even with those beefy 2.5 Minions. My plan is to put some 2.6 Rekons on there when those finally drop for 29ers.

EDIT: Actually, now that I've had a closer look, it's good I got talked out of the Back Country rims. My previous comment above was based on side-to-side clearance. However, it's the depth clearance that I missed. There is just enough clearance with the rear triangle support between the chainstays and seatstays with these Minion DHF 29x2.5 tires. I'd say it's just slightly over 1/4". The wider rims would have deepened the profile of the tire and reduced this gap even further, so the advice to use the Enduro rims with 30.5-mm internal width was a solid recommendation. Thanks to the General Manager at my LBS (Blue Line Bike Lab, Houston, TX) and Industry 9 for collaborating on that advice.

Love this video and also the setup of your bike! It's a bit different to how most people would run the bike but clearly it works for you and your trails. How much does yours weigh in at? I bet it's quite a bit lighter than my top of the line Team XX1 Eagle SB 29 at about 30lbs with pedals! :D

Can I also ask which seat collar you're using?

Thanks, the seat collar is Carbonice Eva. This one: https://www.bike24.com/p269558.html Quite delicate to install and loosen but similar collar has held well on my fat bike over a year much harder usage.

I tried to make it very light. 11,8 kg ~ 26 lbs on bathroom scales.

Thanks for the link, I'll go have a look.

Wow 26lbs has got to be the world's lightest SB! Glad you're enjoying it! :)

His lack of a dropper post doesn't seem to stop him from getting rad and having a good time though does it?!
I couldn't imagine riding my SB without a dropper. Yes, they significantly increase the weight, so if a light build is the goal, they definitely aren't desired for that. However, I like to air it out a lot on my SB and a dropper makes landing jumps soooo much easier. It really helps on really rough, rooty and rocky descents as well (rougher than in this video), which I also like to do. This doesn't mean that you can't get rad with a regular seatpost. It's just not near as easy as it is with a dropper. I was hitting some doubles the other day and my landings felt much less than stellar and I was trying to figure out what I was screwing up in my technique, then I realized on my first two runs I was forgetting to lower my dropper. I dropped it and the third pass landings were easy peezy. This guy's video is more XC riding than AM or Enduro and I'm not knocking that. Everyone can ride their bike however they want. But if you want easier landings and much easier rough descents, the extra weight of the dropper begins to feel like a small price to pay.

BTW, this is a nice video. It's well done and I enjoyed it...
