Flip the bike or keep it to learn on.

Picked up a 2018 DB Atroz 2 for $300. Good first bike?

I was looking at bikes trying to get into some trail riding but everything was a little out of my budget. Fast forward a couple of weeks and my girlfriend thought of checking the thrift shop near her work and found a basically brand new 2018 atroz 2 for $300. She surprised me and brought it home, but I'm not sure if I should try and flip the bike or if it's a good starter until I can get a more capable bike.
Any thoughts would be great!

Really depends hard on the components. Atroz has an old fashioned but functional suspension design but they skimp on the components to keep the price down.

Really short gearbox. Fork is a pogo stick but rear shock is functional. You don't want to go hard on this but it will be ok to learn on.

Go ride!
That's the bike! I don't have too many spots to go to near me, mainly dirt hiking/biking trails, so unless I go out of my way I can't be too hard on it. I mainly wanted something to get out on a ride in the morning so until I start hitting downhill I think this is gonna work. Thanks for the info!

Buddy, your girlfriend was nice enough to surprise you with something she think will make you happy. I can’t speak for everyone, but if I did that for a friend, let alone a potential life partner, and learned that it got flipped just like that? I am sure it won’t be a good evening.

Sounds like the bike will work for what you are doing for a while. Unless size doesn’t fit then you can use that as an excuse to flip it then. But ride it for a little while at least.

Trust me it wasn't my first thought! My gf brought it up before she gave it to me because she looked up the price and wasn't sure if I would like the bike itself. The bike being bright blue and pink. I'll take some pics after my ride tomorrow lol

Also, as pointed out on another thread, even if it's "brand new," it probably has no warranty, so half of MSRP is probably kind of the realistic upper limit on used pricing (key word there being realistic).

It's probably a pretty good deal at $300 compared to other entry-level options, which get you a hardtail with similar components for roughly twice as much.

So, it's probably not a huge "flip" opportunity. But used bike pricing is wack, which must indicate that there are a lot of "greater fools" out there. So maybe you could make a couple hundred by flipping it. You still won't have enough for most entry-level hardtails, new, and maybe not enough for something used, given goofy used pricing.
