I want to get a new frame for next season, probablly something slightly used and i want to start looking now, so i get the right one.

I have a whole mess of parts to make me a slightly more suitable DH rig, i have a 5" bike. I like smaller bikes my favorite bike I have had a chance to ride is an IH 6point (7?).

I have a brand new 08 fox 36 vanR and a suitable 135mm qr wheel.

considerations so far are
yeti asx
bulit

On another noteI also know someone unloading a never used 05 7 point frame for cheap so I could prolly swing getting another wheelset, but I feel like the fox would be a little short for a 7 point, any thoughts?

thanks

they are 150mm but it is cheap enough i could prolly afford some new wheels aswell.
and sorry for my ignorance but what does 8.75x2.75 mean....
Yeah, go for some azonic outlaws or similar,

8.75x2.75 is shock length and stroke, not sure why that was thrown into the ring, but whatever.

yeah i messed that up.

I dont have a fox vanR
I have a fox 36vanr fork. I changed it in the post. It comes with a 66 uauually? would the fox be to short and to steep?

Oh woops sorry.
I have a 04 Super T on mine and it makes it feel like a tank. I was thinking about getting a 36 myself a few months back. It would make it feel much more like a trail bike IMO and if your going to be doing some FR/DH I would see if anyone would want to trade for a fork more fit for fr/dh.

I actually would prefer it more on the trail/ all mountain side of things. I have ridden a fair share of bikes at my local chairlift, including most of the suitable iron horses (except the 7point) Like I said, I like the lighter short travel bikes (I would love a six point or reign) I just prefer a lighter bike with more "feel" I just think they are more fun then a full fledged DH bike.

I like the idea of a lightened up 7point so it could be rugged enough to take a few years of gravity riding, but isnt the 7 point spec'd for 180mm the fox is 160mm seems a little drastic to me. Does anyone have any first hand experience maybe any idea where I could see some pictures of a 7 point with a 36 up front?

what do you think about the asx or bullit, I know nothing about these bikes but im pretty sure they take a 135mm QR.

My buddy rides a stock 2006 IH 7point3, which comes with a Drop Off III. Which if Im not mistaken is 150mm? He hasnt complained. It would make it much more of a trail friendly bike.

I know his bike climbs alot better than mine with 180mm compared to his 150mm fork.
