No volume spacers in a Fox Performance Float X?

Is it ok to have no volume spacers in this shock? I’m only using like 3/4 of the travel on my normal rides. So, I’d like to take it or them out, as long as that doesn’t damage anything. I’m also hoping that will make the small and medium bumps a little smoother. I’ve got 25% sag, front and rear. I’m also going to install the LSC adjuster kit from Fox. Thanks!

Interesting question and I pondered the same thing. My new Specialized Status frame comes with the Float X and I plan to tinker with it. It doesn't say in the manual that you must have x minimum amount of spacers installed. Might be best to ask Fox that question and see what they say.

I'm probably going to remove my shock and let my local suspension shop set it up for my weight.

Which bike? depends on the leverage curve and also in the stroke is shortened - so you maybe measuring wrong. I'm running the Float X 230x60 on Orbea Rallon and am running 0.3 volume spacers with about 29% sag. The shaft is actually 65mm - so if I remove the travel spacer, I can long stroke my bike. So make sure you measure sag correctly.

I tried that already. In the track app, I lowered my weight from 175 pounds to 160 pounds and I used those recommended settings. I’m not sure if it dropped the sag to 30%. But it didn’t make that much of a difference with small and medium hits.
