I don’t know if this is a a little late but my Santa Cruz bullet EP8motor after 1000 miles took a dump it’s just over its warranty. Shimano doesn’t wanna help with anything new motors $1500 plus whatever labor cost is into it so I guess I’ve got a Ebike. It is going to become wall art suggestion Don’t buy anything with a EP8 Shimano motor they don’t back their products. you paid $10,000 for a bike and it only lasts 1000 miles when they say they got motors under test for 20,000 miles and then they don’t want to help you out at least on half price. I mean if a motor get leased 6000 miles on it you might be happy if you bought a Tesla for 100,000 dollars and it last for 50,000 miles and a Tesla would step in and take care of the problem I mean might sound stupid, but that kind of money for an E bike and then Shimano doesn’t want it back nothing sorry for the rant just pissed

Have you tried utilizing the Bike Shop you bought it from for assistance???

Seeing if anyone else out there has had problems with their EP8. Purchased an SC Bullit in march and I now have 520 miles on it. Yesterday I drove down south to explore some new trail in Utah. 20ft into my ride and the motor cut out. You can hear the motor spinning and attempting to assist, but no power is delivered. My first thoughts are that the disengagement part of the motor that allows it to pedal freely after 20 has already broken. If you've already had a problem/warranty, how long did it take for you to get a replacement? I know the Shimano rep and he said September is the next shipment on those... o how I hope it's not that long.

Had the same problem on 2 brand new bikes. #1 2022 pivot shuttle with EP8 that failed after 250km. I got so frustrated after I still didn’t have my bike back 7 weeks later that pivot just sent me a new one . #2 exactly the same problem, failed at 360km. Now I’m calling bull **** and saying Shimano have a defect with the SP8. The chances of me having the same fault on 2 new bikes is almost nonexistent. This is crap !!! and I’m sure it’s doing damage to some of these bike brands

My EP8 has motor spinning but no engagement of drive, 23km old, straight back to shop , took a while to find this problem on the web im assuming its not hugely common

Yup, just bought a brand new Heckler ebike and the ep8 failed after 3 rides. Luckily Shimano is replacing the motor. This was my first ebike too.
